Yes, the agency enforcing the supoprt order can garnish up to 50 percent of your wages and will do it in a heartbeat.

My ex forged our original order for support and lied about how much I made, so I had to pay more than I could afford. On top of that I sent her the money directly, because we were under the impression that the state inly gets involved if you're behind, apparently that's not the case.

Needless to say, I got a letter in the mail saying they were going to garnish my salary. They knew the order was forged, but didn't care, since my case worker stated that she had an order signed by the judge.

To make a long story short, I hired an attorney, and got the order vacated and a judgement in my favor for $1400 plus attorney fees.

First of all, he doesn't owe you child support. He owes your mom (or whoever raised you) because she fed you, clothed you, and housed you as a child. Second of all, if she is able to sue him for child support, and wins, she won't get the money all at once if he doesn't have it. His wages could get garnished, so that a portion of his paycheck goes directly to her until the debt is payed. Finally, you are an adult now. A lot of people your age struggle with money. If you are in college, consider scholarships, grants, and student loans, as well as part time jobs. If you aren't in college, and have trouble finding a decent paying job, maybe you should go to college, even community college, and live off of student loans until you graduate with a useful degree.

NO they cannot, what they can do is arrest you for being behind, et el forcing you to take it out and pay. They can garnish your wages, and your unemployment, take any and all tax returns, until the payments are caught up. I would call domestic relations and work out an agreement where as they take the amount per week due plus a little extra out of your paycheck per week. If it goes to court, they will be able to take up to 45% of your gross pay, and they will.

Yes, it is illegal to be a Dead Beat Dad, and that is one way that your children are able to receive the support they had a right to.

I would help your ex get it if I knew who she was too.
