symantec or mcaffee.

when you go to buy one of these, DO NOT buy any sort of "Internet security system" it will annoy the crap out of you. stuff will stop working and it will duke it out with windows firewall. with windows firewall running, and a typical firewall on an average router, and a decent antivirus package, you will be just fine. INternet security suites also run way too much crap in the background and will slooowwww you down.

I use Panda on our customers, its by far one of the better ones out of the lot, speed is ok even for older PC and detection is high, the Internet Security Suite is what I would suggest as it also handles spams in a normal way, rather than changing your ISP settings .

I have tried all of the above except for Sonic so cant comment on that.
