I'm not saying that if someone disagrees with the government than they hate it, but a lot of people that I know that are Americans are always saying that "they hate America" and they don't do anything about it. This annoys me.

Those who "hate America" actually hate the social and political construct. It is not socialist enough for them. They want to have a cushy bureaucrat job administering social programs, and get elected by keeping people on the dole.

I've never known anyone or read about anyone, hating to live
in the US. I think everyone in their right minds hate what is
happening in this country. We hate to see that our government
has been undermining the will of the people for longer than
I've been been on this earth, and we have hated to see us
loose some of our rights go down the tubes due to amend-
ments being passed thru by the senate and congress. But
to hate the US? No, not hardly. It will always be the freest of
countries, and the most beautiful country in the world with all
of the topical changes from one end of the US to the other.
From the mountains, to the deserts, and to the oceans on
east and west coasts. Certainly no other country can offer so
much as these United States can. Pure eye candy in other
words. Oh sure, there are some bad spots, but by and large
and for the most part, it's one beautiful country.

Most people who claim they hate America are just talking. If you
offer them a chance to leave they would not go. There may be many things here that need changing, but the answer is to get involved in making these changes and not just complain about
the country.

I am always a little bit wary of people who decide that someone else hates something.

Speaking out against the government is not, in any way, an indication that someone hates America.

This country is not defined by its government. It is defined by the people. And the government has to answer to the people.

This is the greatest nation and the best government system God gave to mankind.
I think many people express hatred for their country do it out of some deep seated emotional glitch. They are unable to see and appreciate the many good things this country has to offer. They tend to be generally negative with no vision for the future. They seem to look to the government to solve all of their problems and are unable to understand that success and happiness must come from themselves and not their government. They also tend to develop an opinion, based largely on emotion and not fact, and then try to find facts to support their position. It's like they want to be unhappy.
I think the biggest thing that could help people be happy is a real, practical understanding of the one thing that has made this the greatest country on earth; capitalism.

I dont hate living in the US at all. I actually love it. I live in California by the beach - whats not to love? Ive traveled to almost evrey state and its beautiful, all the national parks. Ive met some great people in my travels.

I do however, hate the government.

But disagreeing with the current government doesnt make me non-american or 'hate the us'

I don't think so many people in America hate it here. I think alot of people hate some of the Americans live here, but act in their own interest and against the country as a whole -- like our President & Congress.

If you truly believe that than work with people to change their opinions. Instead you want to run from the problem by just asking them to leave. Out of sight out of mind, is that it?

If your argument is, indeed the better one people will come around to your way of thinking if it isn't than you could be wrong and maybe you should change your way of thinking.

In a democracy it isn't my way or the highway it is give and take. It is compromise. It is respect for the other person's point of view even when you disagree with that view.

In an ideal Fascist dictatorship everyone agrees and walks in lockstep with the leader. A democracy thrives on dissent and difference of opinion. Which do you prefer? Please tell us. Democracy of Facist dictatorship? Your question, as asked can make one believe the latter.

Actually, that's not why they call it a free coutry, but that's another question.
Most people who live in the US do not hate it, in fact quite the opposite, most people that live in the US love it. If you are talking about people who question the policies and actions of the government then you are confusing questioning the process with hating the process.
If the process doesn't work then we are told to question it and hopefully bring about change. That is what our country is built on, the ability to question things that don't make sense and change them if we don't agree with them.

People need to differentiate between criticizing and "hating" the government and loving your home and your country. I love the USA. I love living here. I wouldn't trade it for any other country, and YES I've been to several others.

Yet at the same time I am embarrased by, distrustful of, and disgusted with the oafs who've been running it. But there's a big difference between being down on them and loving my country.
