I stopped taking the pill on Saturday so I could have my week off. It's going fine but would it be OK for me to start taking it again tomorrow night because I'm seeing my man on Friday and don't want to be on my period?

I was just wondering if it would mess up my cycle

It's microgynon so there are no sugar pills...you have to come off for a week every month

Yes that is not a problem. Just make sure you don't make a habit of it. But an occasional shortening of the days off the pill is fine, you can even take two packs back to back if you like. But once again only do it occasionally.

What brand are you on and why do you think stopping the pill will help you?

Stopping the pill will NOT stop you from getting pregnant. Taking one pill a day every day at the same time will help you not become pregnant (though no contraceptive is 100% effective).

Skipping the sugar pills MAY work, then again you may end up getting breakthrough bleeding during that time anyway.

I tried skipping the sugar pills and it took MONTHS to get my cycle on a regular basis. I would not do that again.

Since you've already stopped, you won't be fully covered, therefore you will need to use a condom while you are with your man.

Most doctors say it safe to do this. Mine says every once in a while is no problem. I tried it once b/c I didn't want o deal with my period while on vacation and it worked okay. I have heard that some women still have spotting though so it's not %100 fool proof.

I don't know if it's widely recommended at this point, but my OB told me it is safe to occassionally start up my next pack of pills early to avoid periods. There are even pills on the market now that you can do this on a consistent basis.

I don't get it...you just stopped in the middle of the pack or you stopped because you hit your sugar pills? If you stopped because you hit your sugar pills...you can start your new pack whenever you want. If you stopped in the middle....DO NOT have unprotected sex.

No! Take your pill at your normal time cuz your not safe anyway so use protection! If your man cares it will not matter if you on your period or not.

No, why would you stop taking it temporarily? You could get breakthrough bleeding! Only stop if you want to for good, and talk to your doctor first!
