Am I reading this article wrong? It appears to me that Bush is threatening to veto a spending bill that gives more money to the Homeland Security Dept, while increasing funds for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Does this seem azz-backwards to anyone else?

Not at all. True conservatives don't like to spend for the sake of spending. He feels as though the budget spike would be excessive. I agree.

We're spending money we don't necessarily have. We need to get things back on track. The Homeland Security Dept is well funded as it is.

I always love it when he threatens a veto because a bill has domestic spending.

the Democrats want to take 3.5 billion dollars from the Pentagon's war chest and put it towards useless liberal programs like education and border protection. why do they hate america?
it has become embarassing the way this president will hemorrage money away from our own country into the hole in Iraq.

I guess he didn;t realize his amnesty bill would cost money. That, or he is just using this bill to give the appearance of working with congress...while simultaneuosly cutting off funding for it so it never happens...

No, the military has a proven track record of getting the job done.

The DHS is a debacle that has only wasted tax payer money. I hope the next president dismantles it.
