Unlike rape, incest can be a willful act. All incest means is sex between relatives. It doesn't mean it's against anyone's will. So, why is incest considered an exceptional circumstance in which abortion might be justified?

most incest is all non-consenual. its typically coerced.

babies born from incest have a higher chance of being deformed. there are some deformaties that only occur with inbreeding.

(cousins only have 2% of a risk if they have children together, compared to non-family members. thus some state let cousins marry and more doctors agree that its safe. just for comparisons of risks- people with a genetic disorder have a 50% risk and people over 40 have a 10% risk.)

People are exaggerating the 'birth defects' angle. The probability is very low, even accounting for first cousins and siblings procreating. You learn that in intro to biology. The more genetically related the parents are, the higher the chance of birth defects, but the rate goes up a fraction of a percent.

I agree with you. Although some cases of incest aren't consensual, many are. Those who recommend or permit abortion in the case of incest never differentiate between consensual and non-consensual incest. In fact, they differentiate by specifying "rape AND incest," suggesting that they're separate. They're not saying "incestuous rape."

So, if we're referring to incest of the consensual kind, then I don't understand how it could be put on the same playing field as rape. Wouldn't it make more sense to include incestuous rape under the rape category, rather than categorizing it under incest?

As a survivor of incest, I can say it is the same as rape....I don't know anyone who would willingly have sex with a relative, even though I'm sure there are cases of that.
Abortion is justified in an incest case because with shared blood between the people involved, the innocent child could suffer from severe disabilities. just like with any rape.....I don't know if I could carry a child to tum after such a brutal crime. I would more than likely give the child away for adoption since that is what my biological mother did in my case.

Incest greatly increases birth defects.

Example Adam and Eve

I would be willing to bet that at least 90% of incest is NOT consensual. That makes it rape. In fact to me it is worse than rape.

Because children born of incest can be born with mutated genes that can cause serious problems for them.

That makes them expendable to the people who think all life is sacred and should be protected.

Ill start by saying Im completely pro-choice. So I dont care if you did it with your brother or some guy from the bar. You can choose to keep the pregnancy or not.

I think you would be safe to say that MOST incest is not willfull.

In most states incest is illegal, just like sex with an underage willing partner is. So the same rules apply. If the person is under age it is RAPE. of age and unlawful sex RAPE!
Hope this helps, and leave you cousin alone.

Incest often (not always) involves at least one underage individual which automatically constitutes rape.

Most likely because of the genetic problems that arise in the children of incest.
