I didn't take them, and I'm glad i didn't.. i would've been more freaked out.. trying to remember all that stuff... honestly when the time comes... the nurses will be the best coaches for you and Dad.. and you'll just know what to do(how to push etc) .. it comes naturally

I did a childbirth ed class, not specifically lamaze though. I thought it was great. It went over numerous laboring positions, ways to ease mild back pain prior to labor, what to do if you have back labor & how to work your way through the contractions. It also told you what to expect if you had an epidural and alternatives to one. And of course it went over different breathing techniques. Also went over when to call the doctor and the stages of labor.

At 38 weeks it's a bit late to be thinking about it, but if you have any friends who have taken any sort of childbirth class, ask them if they still have materials they received (they generally give you a book that outlines a lot of the info they go over). Many of the teachers are L&D nurses, so when you are in labor your nurse can probably give you a crash course if you ask. Whatever you do, unless medically necessary, do not let them confine you to a bed. Get up and move around as much as possible and don't be afraid to try whatever they are offering - birthing balls, hot tub, etc. As for the breathing, you just need to focus and maintain some sort of rhythm that you follow, so you and the baby get the oxygen that you both need. Bring some relaxing music with you if you think that will help. Try not to stress out too much and even though it is going to hurt, stay as relaxed as possible. Good luck and congrats!

I went to a child birth class, not actually Lamaze. I didn't take any notice when they were talking about c-sections because I was determined I wasn't going to have one. Then my daughter was breech and I had to have a c-section. So it did me no good at all!!! I know that doesn't really help you - sorry. From what I've heard, the nurses where you give birth will be able to help you.

I took lamaze classes with my first child and they were informative if not comforting. I made friends with some of the other women there and one of them was on the birthing floor the same time as me so we got to show off our precious little ones the first day they were born. It's fun but you don't have to have the class.

I took them but I didn't learn anything new that the pregnancy books didn't teach me. I also got an epidural at 5cm and so I never used the breathing techniques and eventually had to have an emergency c-section, so well, lamaze classes were a waste for me. Good luck, you'll be fine. :-)

I read alot during my pregnancy, so alot I already knew. But it was great to hear from an L&D nurse about the process in great detail, watch vidoes and actually tour the hospital and touch all the instruments used. Its also great to have a trained person answer ALL your questions.

You will be fine whether or not you took them.

The breathing will hopefully help me....

Good luck

I had one with my first being pregnant, it extremely is frightening till you get there, that's basically a nurse or midwife explaining what to anticipate in the well-being facility room, and signs and indications to observe for to allow you recognize you're in hard artwork. They coach you the thank you to maintain song of your contractions, and the main suitable thank you to respire that could be useful you relax. This helped my husband out till the section the place they confirmed us a video of a woman giving start. He kinda freaked out a sprint, and that i heard a great number of OH MY GOD's, and EWWW's lol. yet something grew to become into user-friendly, they coach him rub down techniques to help relieve the countless discomfort, and you diverse positions to lie in to help velocity up hard artwork or ease contractions. it extremely is precise which you will gown very actually, in view which you is normally getting up and down from the floor. do no longer issue, it extremely is kinda relaxing, they even permit you prepare diapering dolls and giving toddler their first tub.

I didnt and it all worked out fine. But then again I had my mother there for me and she has had 4 children, so I felt really safe having her around. The only thing I had to remember was to not push from my face, rather they tell you to push from your bottom. Just breathe through the pain :)
