She has really dark hair on her legs too. Once it starts growing I'm really worried about it! She's very sensitive and likes to look good at all times. I'm worried about how to handle this. Any advice?

She got the razor out of my shower. If you have kids, you know they don't always do what you tell them. She's gotten in trouble for disobeying. Now I'm trying to help her.

I'm not looking for parenting skills. Thank you though. I'm looking for answers on hair re-growth and how to handle that. A 7 year old can get into anything they desire regardless of where it's kept. They are big enough. She's gotten in trouble and that's not the issue I'm concerned about.
She's a sensitive girl about her looks. She's not like my other 2 children. They never would have done this. All kids are different, now I'm just looking for advice on hair regrowth at that age.

I guess I need to also state that I believe 7 is entirely too young to be shaving and that a 7 year old is not yet mature enough mentally to handle that responsibility.
Remember, none of you were there to see the circumstances in how it happened---that's not the issue.
I guess I should have stated he question is like this: Does a 7 year old's hair regrow like a teenager/adult? If so, what would you do with your 7 year old?

I stole a razor and shaved when I was a kid too. Nothing to do with my parents parenting skills, I was just sneaky.
Because she only shaved once it should be fine, once it's passed the first growth prickly stage. If you or your daughter find the hair to be more coarse than before (hair does not become thicker) you could try using Jolen's cream bleach on it. It will not only lighten the hairs but make them softer. It's very gentle and safe to use. It might help her feel better about herself too. Of course this is a product that you would have to apply for her because of her age.
When she's showing enough maturity and you're ready buy her an electric razor. It's easy and safe to use so you won't have to worry about her cutting herself. At what age is up to you, mom's always know best.

I'm confused. Why is her shaving her legs such an issue?
She obviously felt very self conscious about her leg hair and did something about it.
I wouldn't be happy that she did it, but then again I wouldn't have said no and I would have been there for her to help her through her first time shaving.
What to do? If her first shave didn't look too good, show her the correct way and the way you do it. If it looks good, just watch her the next time she does it just in case you have any pointers for her.

I think it's just curiosity. I did that when I was younger. I swiped one from my older cousin. It wasn't because of parenting, just curiosity. My mom found out and took the blade out. I didn't know this and just kept "shaving". I grew out of that and went onto make-up and other things. But found out years later, lol. My other cousin did the same thing and her mom bought her safety blades. It has a metal strip on the blade that prevents cutting close and doesn't cut fingers. It was also a phase and we both went on to other things that we were curious about. I think it should have no problem growing back to how it was before. Good luck!

Try putting your razor in a place where she can't find it-like somewhere in your room, maybe somewhere with a lock. A 7 year old's hair shouldn't grow back quite the same way, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Where did she get the razor? A 7 year old should NOT have access to a razor--with blades or electric. That's the first problem. So, take the razor away from her. This is very simple. Only you know how bad her leg hair is, but at 7, she is TOO YOUNG to shave/wax it unless she has a medical condition with excess hair growth. You are the parent. Be one. Don't let her have a razor. And stop her from being so concerned about her looks at 7 years old. Kids pick these things up from either older siblings OR mom. Which is it?
So, you tell her "I told you that you could not shave your legs. You're grounded" (or whatever you all do for punishment--as long as it's not physical). I can't believe you don't know how to handle this. Are you the mom or not?

Since there is no way to stop the hair from growing maybe just try using a cream from now on to keep up on it with her. Like Nair.

Because of her age, her hair will grow back just as it was before. You need not worry about it growing in darker and thicker. Kids will experiment like that.

a punishment would be too let her regrow it and make her wait until she is at least 10. But if she is this adimit about it, use nair or veet

I would show her how to do it correctly so she does not hurt herself. Girls seem to develop early as I did, and she seems like she is showing you that she is ready. Rather teach her then have her do it on her own.

Offer to bleach it for her then follow through...check and make sure she can stand the bleaching ingredients by trying some on a patch of leg...Apparently someone called attention to the fact
