First of all I CAN read. I actually like to read and am very good at it, but lately I can't seem to finish an entire book at will. I have an entire shelf of books and the newest ones are all only half-read. Does anyone know what could have caused this sudden disinterest?

Actually it's only novels I can't seem to finish. I can and have read through all my new mangas in less than a day.

this happens to me all the time..

do you still feel an interest in these books?

if I don't feel an attatchment to the story or its characters I find that I can easily put a book down and not care for it's outcome..

just keep reading new books until a plot line jumps at you.. there are a lot of crap books out there.

It might be the types of books you are reading; maybe your preferences have changed and you are getting bored with that particular kind. Either that or you are beginning to experience some signs of attention deficit disorder or depression. A lot of it has to do with your mood which can be determined by what you eat, how often you sleep and what sort of mindset you have. Keep a log of your behaviors, see if anything has changed from past to present and just keep trying. The solution could be something as simple as getting more sleep.

HAHAHAHA!!! I have the same problem.... I just don't know how people can finish an entire book. Unless it is REALLY interesting. Too me it was all the Amy Tan Books.

If you really use your imagination more and put yourself in the story Put yourself in the era, imagine all the sights, sounds, smells, etc, the detail of the characters, what they sound like...what the narrator would sound like...It would be a better read....unless its something like: Homer's Odyessy :)
Take care,
Marie

This condition is called "spring fever." You've been in school for nine months and you've been reading all this time. Now that spring is here and summer is near, you body is telling you that you need to make a change. Get outside, exercise, swim, walk, ride a bike. You need some action before you can get back to reading. Above all, have fun.

It's sounds like maybe your interests have changed. There's nothing wrong with that. Just stick to the books that you are interested in.
