Why don't we have Term Limits for the House and Senate ?

Republicans were voted in with the Contract for America with the Slogan Term Limits.

Once they got power, they never wanted to pass Term Limits.

Pressure both Parties to pass Term Limits or we should vote them out after one term until they do.

I'm a Democrat who wants Term Limits. We need to stop the corruption on both sides.

To enforce term limits, it would take a Constitutional Amendment - that which the Republicans could not get passed then due to the lack of necessary votes to pass an amendment.

If I recall - it would take a 2/3 supermajority, and then 3/4 of the states to ratify this.

It can't pass as a general law, since the law would be in violation of the Constitution, as it outlines how Congressional Representatives are elected.

Better question, why won't Democrats and Republicans call for a historical review of the 16th and 17th amendments, particularly the latter, when independent research shows it was never rightfully ratified. One of this nations biggest scams by a President and Attorney General.

Term limits would cut down the ability for corruption, since representatives would not be able to be in office long enough to get a scenario running.

Term limits will allow for new blood and new ideas to enter Congress, and with it, drop Congressional pensions and the like. We need to end the career politicians fed by the lobbyists.

I am opposed to term limits. It took an amendment to the Constitution to get term limits on the Presidency. We would have to get another amendment. It won't happen. I want the right to vote for anyone I choose. I don't want anyone telling me who I cannot vote for.
Term limits would not get rid of corruption. Term limits could force good people out and bring bad people in.
