Like Sam said, it's all about personal preference. It sounds like you already have both Factions and Nightfall so you have at least 6 character slots available. Why not create 1 of each and play the character for awhile (at least up to level 10). By then you'll have a feel for how your character fights and uses his skills. You'll find yourself slowly moving towards a preference and that will become your main character.

I will say that an Assassin is hard to learn for first time players. It takes more skill to play a "sin" well than some other classes. A Paragon is more of a support role than a direct combatant, although he can be used that way with spear attacks. His main strength is buffing the other members of your team.

I play guild wars sometimes and i have to say that it is just preference, i personally like warrior because i love the up close fighting action. I have a secondary necromancer because you can use plague touch to transfer any condition (bleeding,poison,deep wound,etc.)
