What if you met what you thought was a cool person, went on a few dates and then they start telling you how much they support George W. , how the war in Iraq is right, etc...

Would you dump them right on the spot or get one last good bye bang before leaving?

I wouldn't dump them cause they are entitled to there opinion. You can also give your thoughts on the war and on him.. I read a bumper sticker that read" No one died when Clinton lied.." something you can use to prove a point.

Well one last good bye bang is just tacky. If you guys are just dating, and it's not going anywhere serious, like marriage, then why do you care what she supports? But if you like her and think it "could" go somewhere, then yes, end it now. No good will come of that. If two people differ greatly in religion and politics, the relationship is doomed - especially if you are thinking of having children. I wouldn't marry someone who supported Bush or thought this so-called war was right. No way.

I think that if you met a cool person that you really like, but you don't agree with all of their opinions, the best thing to do is work it out. Maybe try to get past the fact that she or he like and supports George W. (by the way lots of people support him since he was elected president).

LOL, funny you should ask. I'd been with my boyfriend for about 2 years when I found out that not only did he vote for Dubya back in 2000, but he voted for him AGAIN in 2004!!!!!!! I was mortified, naturally, to think I'd been going around with a closet Republican all this time, but when he explained that he only voted for him because he hails from Texas and he grew up with him as the state governor, and if you're from Texas and anybody finds out you didn't vote for the former governor, you practically get lynched or something- I was able to forgive him. However, I still always blame my boyfriend a little every time I pull up to a gas pump, or every time I see more dead soldiers in the paper. But I have to accept the fact that when he first voted for George W, he was a mere lad of 18 who didn't understand the repurcussions of his actions, and was basically just excited to pull the shiny voting-booth lever. He now verbally atones for his voting actions (though not when his card-carrying Republican parents are around), and I have forgiven him for his aggregious error. After all, if I can overlook the whole Texas thing, I have to turn the other cheek for this as well.

I probably would because I need someone who supports the same thing I do, and I know that a lot of arguments could ruin a relaionship and I wouldn't want to screw something up, I mean I could love them a lot but them supporting a different side could be a bad thing and really screw you up, so I'd dump them for sure!

I really don't think that I would find someone to be a "cool person" if they were so deluded. I'd probably realize that they were stupid before we discussed politics.

I might try to find out why on earth they think such things, just for my own education/amusement, and then dump them.

Good question. Actually, a friend of mine does support him and I do not. Strangely we do not really talk much anymore. I think the feeling is mutual on both sides. That's a shame, but whatever I suppose.

YES!!!! I support our troops but do not support the war....she is uneducated and needs to realize that he is going to go down in the history books as one of the worst President's ever. Dump her, she must be the only person in the world that feels this way!

As long as we could agree to disagree and they didn't mind me pointing out poor a president Bush has been as much as they supported him, I wouldn't dump them.

I would probably end the relationship since the fact that she supported that kind of person would speak volumes about her values and intelligence level. Clearly we would view the world in very different ways which would ultimately doom the relationship anyway.
