cold turkey. ha. no1 can do that if there honestly a smoker. Cutting down is the only real way 2 go. Try using nicotine patches or something that contains nicotine so that you will have a small but constant flow of the drug in ur body. depending on how much u smoke now try starting with just increasing the time between smokes, say 45 minutes or an hour. Not saying. ok. instead of having 3 cigarettes ill have 2. Way to hard to do.
Also join a group with other people in ur position that are also trying 2 quit. If u meet and talk 2 them, say once a week, u will find it really helps. they can give u the best info. and support out of any1. i mean, there going through it 2 and as far as i no these groups are cheap if not free. if not maby start ur own group, and the members dont all have to b smokers either.
hope this helps.

Everyone's a little different, but most people do better using some kind of quitting aid as well as some other kind of support network, such as quitting with a friend or having family keep you honest, or so forth. The nicotine patch is often recommended and costs about the same as buying cigarettes. There are also a lot of websites now that offer help with quitting. If you go to google and type "quit smoking" you'll get several good options to choose from.

I don't mean to sound cynical, but why stop? I smoke a pack a day, not much compared to some people I know who smoke 2 or 3 packs a day, for a few reasons. One, it makes you feel better. Two, when you are stressed out, sad, mad, smoking helps to calm your nerves. Finally, we're all going to die at some point, and we don't know when that point is. If you like to smoke, smoke, because you never know which cigarette might be your last. You could smoke a carton a day and still get hit by a bus. Also, smoking puts you in control of something. If you smoke you realize that you could be killing yourself but you do it anyway. In that aspect, death is something that you feel that you control. Also, marijuana (still technically smoking) is far less harmful than alcohol. You never hear about a guy crashing into a kid on a bike cause he was stoned. He was too busy eating Cheetos and watching "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle". So my overall PSA is: DON"T QUIT SMOKING!

There is no easy way to stop smoking, I have been there and I still want one at times. Any program will work but you have to want it. Before you say what does he know, I smoked four packs of cigarettes a day. I quit cold turkey, the last day I smoked, I smoked nineteen cigarettes. Since then I have had one puff and it was bad. Over ten years and I still treat cigarettes like an alcoholic treats alcohol.

Actually its better to quit without doing it right on the spot, that way you can actually get prepared for it. If you plan it and put thought into it you will have a higher success rate!
The first 3 days are the hardest! The patch definitly helps but can be addictive itself and hard to get off of. The hardest part is the mental! Find things to do with your hands to overcome the addictive behavior off putting something in your mouth. I kept a ton of licorice around just to hold and munch on for the first couple of weeks. The thing I did that helped me the most was... Before I quit I wrote myself a letter that stated all the reasons I wanted to quit, my health, my kids, living long enough to see my grandkids, not wanting my kids to watch me die a horrible death from cancer, all the money i would save, things I could use the money for instead etc. I printed a bunch of them and hung them all around the house as a constant reminder. Visitors might think your crazy but it helps! LOL! I made a promise to myself that if I decided to smoke a cigarette I would have to read the letter first! If you really put your heart into the letter it will be hard to read it and still smoke!! I put a new patch on every night before bed and had nightmares and weird dreams and sometimes made my heart race a little. I found out that those are pretty common side effects and also found that it was much better to put the new patch on in the morning. Good luck and be strong! You will start to notice differences in 3 days and those differences will hopefully give you reasons to stay strong! Also there is a new drug out there called Chantix that is pretty good.. a couple of my friends have used it and had success.

The only way to quit smoking is to not smoke anymore. Cold turkey is the way to go, it just requires will power and you have to really want to quit. I found it worked great but I had to avoid places where cigarettes were sold and stayed away from people who were smoking. An added bonus is... it's free!

I quit cold turkey, it wasn't the easiest, but I think it's the best! Cutting down isn't going to cut your cravings, or the amount of nicotine in your body. I read in some magazine that your body doesn't know whether you have one cigarette or 20 in a day... so my advice would be to just quit and go through the withdrawal period and just do it. you feel so much better a lot quicker than you think!

Cold turkey. I did it. It took 3 days without one to realize I could do it. It has been 11 years and I smoked for 13.
