If you're looking to buy something from a website, I would check out the Better Business Bureau online. You can search by company name, website address, etc and find out if it's real and also if they have any complaints on file. All free.

Google for the website by name, not with "www" OR ".com", as in Dell. It should be at the top of the list.

Bad or phony (be careful) ones, like "dellusa" for example, will be way down the list.
