Yes, Tums are safe to take. I had frequent heartburn during pregnancy and the midwife told me that Tums was best to take to ease my discomfort.

I did not eat them like candy, but I took no more than what was recommended daily--just as with all things when a woman is pregnant, any and all medications should be taken in moderation.

Not a good idea. If you need Calcium, take a calcium tab that has vit D added. Calcium needs vit D for proper absorption. Tums used to contain sodium and aluminum. Sodium could raise your BP, something that has to be watched during preg. Aluminum can be toxic and cause developmental and neuro probs in infants. Why take the chance? You should be consulting your Phy. for a list of anything you may take, incuding OTCs. Good Luck.

It's perfectly safe to take tums while pregnant.

Do take your daily vitamin as well. You don't need to
buy the prenatal ones if you can't afford them. My OB
said the daily ones are just fine. Buy the folic acid supplement
though.

When I pregnant with my first i had so much heart burn I ended up having cravings for Tums. I used to go through a large box a week. I loved the orange flavoured ones and cherry too. Didn't do him any harm. He's 12 in a few weeks and off to High School after the summer. Nothing wrong with him...................Although he does twitch now and again and he has a slight lisp and walks funny too.....................

Only joking!!!!!!!!!

I would talk to your doctor because you may get a high calcium in take. That could be good or bad for the baby but stick to prenatal pills for the most part. If you have heartburn then take one.

I'd talk to your doctor about taking them for calcium but, they are safe during pregnancy. My tums and I were pretty tight while I was pregnant . . . can you say HEARTBURN?!?!?!?!?

Good luck with your pregnancy.

I don't know the answer to the question, but it doesn't really matter if you are only trying to get calcium. Why wouldn't you just take calcium supplements then? Sounds like you need to pay a visit to your doctor and get more information on taking care of yourself and your baby. Y!A is not a good source for something this important.
