From what I've read, the part could cost you between $80-$100 depending upon where you purchase it. For example, if you purchase the part yourself through say an online website like Rock Auto then you may be able to get the part at a cheaper price. The labor to replace the part could be 3+ hours at least. Apparently, it's harder to replace the heater core on the 6-cylinder Grand Ams then the 4-cylinder Grand Ams, although I don't know right now why that is.

Yes, heater core and Grand Am in the same sentence is not good at all.

Yes, it is. These cores are buried in the dash and require a lot of time and patience to replace without wrecking everything. Good luck.
