actually what most women dont know is that every time you change band sizes (the number) the cup size changes too. so a 34 c is smaller in the cup than a 36 c. bras have sister sizes which means that the cups are the same but the band is different for example
30C 32B AND 34A all have the same cup size but the 30 c will be smaller around than the 34a here is a chart with some sister sizes on it
lower actual upper size
30C 32B 34A all have the same cup but differnt bands
30D 32C 34B all have the same cup but differnt bands
30DD 32D 34C all have the same cup but differnt bands
30DDD 32DD 34D
30DDDD 32DDD 34DD
32B 34A 36AA
32C 34B 36A
32D 34C 36B
32DD 34D 36C
32DDD 34DD 36D
32DDDD 34DDD 36DD
32G 34DDDD 36DDD
34B 36A 38AA
34C 36B 38A
34D 36C 38B
34DD 36D 38C
34DDD 36DD 38D
34DDDD 36DDD 38DD

so 30 c is actually smaller than 34a

You both are different chest and cup sizes. You are smaller framed (30) with larger breasts (C), she is larger framed (34) with smaller breasts (B).

The number is the measurement around the chest under the breasts plus four if its an even number, plus five if its an odd number. Then you measure around the breast at the nipples and subtract the first number from that one and get the cup size.

1" is an A 2" is a B 3" is a C, etc.

A 28DD is someone with a SMALL frame (28) and a LARGE bust (DD)...

Alright...the A,B,C,D etc. is your actual cup size...A = Small. D = large and double letters (DD) are just too much to handle.

The number stands for your chest measurement. i.e wrap a tape measure around your upper torso level with your chest. That number is like your waist measurement but for a bra size instead of pants.

30C - Bigger breasts smaller torso
34B - Smaller breasts bigger toroso

Okay so your cup size (how big your breasts are) is the letters (A, B, C, D, DD) and the number is the measure of your chest all around. So you have bigger breasts then your friend but she has a bigger diaphram. Good luck!

The band size is the measurement of your ribcage directly below the bust with 5 inches added on. ie your ribcage measurement is 27 inches 27+5= a band size of 32.

The cup size is the difference between the measurement around the fullest point of your bust minus your band size. ie your band size is 32 and you measured 33 inches around your bust your cup size would be A. 2 inches difference and your cup size is B, 3 inches C etc.

OK roro has it HALF right....the cup sizes refer to size of the breast and the number is the measurement around the chest....so higher numbers reflect larger women....a teeny tiny number like 28 (which is like Nicole Richey thin) with DD after it...is like an unheard of, surgically enhanced kind of size....30C sounds like you are a petite girl with a huge rack FOR YOUR SIZE.....your friend with a 34B sounds perfectly average.
