Although not a public figure, I have a life story that I think could be a big seller. Is there any place where I could get advice on writing, publishing and selling my story?

Read several memoirs, especially ones published in the last five or ten years.

Then visit AbsoluteWrite.com/forums, where you'll find an entire board devoted to memoir writing, plus a whole lot more about writing well in general, editing, submitting manuscripts, and publishing.

Best of luck with it.

The best advice you can get is to read a few memoirs. I would also recommend writing something and putting it away to read later, a week, month, whatever you want. I have journals that I've written nearly 20 years ago that are almost like meeting a teenaged me all over again.

Dear Future Writer/Author:

Let's be perfectly honest here and say that there are literally hundreds, if not thousands of places to learn about writing, agents, publishing, etc.

Along with all these, there are no real get rich quick schemes; there are no real shortcuts to fame and fortune; there are no real fast and furious roads to writing the great American novel or the next greatest story ever told!

The only real means and ways to success are the tried and true methods of doing it one step at a time; having people say you can't do it, but going ahead and doing it anyway; getting burned, getting frazzled, getting rejected, getting discouraged, but yet after all is said and done, still being able to pick yourself off the ground, brush yourself off, and keep on going in spite of it all!

And in spite of it all -- I still hope you're a success; and wish you the best in your journeys!!

Peace Out!!
