No, they never will be, just like they weren't a World Series town after the Angels had their blip on the screen.

No, they are not. Winning the cup does not make you a hockey town. It makes you a good team, but winning the cup, and being a hockey town isn't the same thing. A hockey town is a city that lives and breathes hockey. So what if you sold out 15 games. Look at the streak Colorado had, and look at the Minesota Wild. Being a hockey town isn't just about pro hockey. It's about hockey at all levels. It's about supporting your team when they win and lose. If the Ducks can sellout even 30 of the 41 home games next year I will be impressed. Very few of the teams in the NHL can actually be considered to play in a hockey town. All the Canadian teams are, Detroit, the Avs, the Wild, and maybe some of the Northeastern teams during a good couple years. I'm sorry but Anaheim doesn't meet any requirements you would have to be considerd a hockey town.

I have to start by saying I am a die-hard, Southern California Ducks Fan. When I lived closer to Anaheim I went to games at least 5-10 times a year (I was in high school and and tickets are expensive). I now live 2 hours away and still get to about 3-5 games a year. But I have to agree that you can not call Anaheim a Hockey Town. The Greater Los Angeles area(including Orange County) has too much other stuff to distract fans attention. There are more sports teams in the area then anywhere on Earth.
This doesn't mean there are not die-hard fans in Anaheim. So please stop all the "California doesn't deserve a cup crap". In California there are 3 Hockey teams. There are 2 within 30 minutes of each other ( if you combine the number of fans of both teams you have a lot of fans.) Many teams in Canada are the only sports team in the general area.
Please don't get me wrong, I love how Canadian cities support their hockey teams, I wish Anaheim could be that way, but there are lots of distractions here so stop the hate.

Oh, now I have to find out what is new with Paris Hilton! =)

As a long time Ducks fan (who suffered for many years), I say... NO. We are bringing more awareness to So Cal about hockey, but in no way is Anaheim, or, Orange County a hockey town.
I've been all over the NHL cities, and Anaheim is passionate but not to the caliber of some cities like St. Paul, MN for example. Heck, even San Jose is more a hockey town than Anaheim.
Its not a popular sport in So Cal,but again, the awareness is finally here. More non hockey fans are looking into the sport, and many are considering attending their first live game at the Honda Center. Maybe if the Ducks continue to play as a top caliber team, in 3-5 years Anaheim can be a Hockey Happy Town!

My lord, why are people bragging about the playoff tickets being sold out? They're supposed to be sold out -- it's the playoffs!!! The Wild have sold out every single game since hockey returned to MN in 2000 -- not just the second half of the season, and not just during their 2 playoff runs. Anaheim will never be a hockey town, it's just not in your culture. You don't live in a city that suffers through 6 months of bitterly cold, snowy winters where there's a hockey rink on every block. Never will there be an NCAA Frozen Four tournament with a team from CA in contention. And do you guys even have a high school hockey tournament? That gets televised??? Anaheim is a baseball town. Leave the hockey to the Northerners.

Definately not. Just because you win one stanley cup in your (correct me if im wrong) 14 yr existence, does not make you a hockey town. Of course canada is hockey country, but have you heard of detroit? Their name is hockeytown. I think that is the only hockeytown out there. People are saying Buffalo is..how? When was your last stanley cup win? Wait..never. When you can win 10 stanley cups..3 in a span of 6 years, then call yourself a hockey town. When you can go into any nhl arena, and find at least 10 people wearing your jersey, then call yourself a hockey town!

I know you are kidding. I cringed when Arnie got up there and made his stereotypical one liners. Leave it too a politician and a movie star to cheapen any event. Aren't we fortunate to have both?
No one, including me, will ever consider Anaheim a hockey town until we put up multiple consecutive seasons of attendance, merchandise sales, and winning seasons. Some will never admit it, specifically the "If it doesn't snow in the city you don't deserve a hockey team". Besides, it snows in a city less than a 30 minute drive away so that is enough for me ( I drive farther to work everyday)! :-) And of course, they can always fall back on competitive ice fishing. ;-P

Go Ducks!

Get off the bandwagon before you embarrass yourself any further. The phrases "Anaheim, CA" and "hockey town" should not be in the same sentence. What you said there is an insult to Detroit, Toronto, and Montreal. Those three cities are hockey towns after decades of solidifying hockey to what it is today. Anaheim can't hold a candle to what they have accomplished with 14 years and ONE Stanley Cup. What you said there was quite blasphemous. lol

like i said before they will not repeat and will see a different roster next year as some of the players will want larger contracts and with Anaheim losing money every year since there existence they will not be able to keep all there players. and if you seriously think they haven't been losing money why do you think Walt Disney sold the team. they didn't even sell out a game all year and yes they did win the Stanley Cup but the bandwagon fans that where there this year will not be around next year when the team struggles. NHL Anaheim Ducks remind me of the MLB Florida Marlins buy a team then lose all the players the fallowing year.

Hockey will never dominate the scene in SoCal. Too much other stuff going on. But it does probably have as much support as football.

There will be more people interested, more people will join the Ducks die-hards, but I don't think it will captivate the whole of SoCal or even OC.

Anaheim is now the "New Hockey Town". We love our hockey here in Anaheim. Even without the cup the Ducks have had a strong couple of seasons and at least half the year was a sellout crowd. With the Cup, the Ducks are now a team to be reckoned with and should be considered a Hockeytown. GO DUCKS
