Given this story, is there any reason, logically speaking, for someone who supports alternative marriage rights such as gay marriage to oppose a group like this in their quest to legalize polygamy?

Would that also lead to polygamous gay marriages, with whole cadres of fellas legally going at each other in a giant orgy of manhood?

Whoowee. I'm kind of disgusting myself just typing this question.

I've been a staunch supporter of gay marriage for awhile, but I've never given much serious thought to polygamy. I suppose if all parties are consenting adults, I don't have a problem with it, as long the right is not restricted to men (women should have the right to multiple husbands as well).

It will be interesting to see what the (non-Mormon) Religious Right has to say about this. On the one hand, it goes against convention (which they hate), but on the other hand, polygamy is all over the Bible, and rarely portrayed in a negative light.

On a related note, one law I think ought to be federalized is that ALL parties in a marriage (gay, straight, polygamous or otherwise) should be at least 25 years of age. I think this would DRAMATICALLY reduce the divorce rate.

Allowing two people of the same sex to marry each other in no way has anything to do with polygamy. I doubt the Mormons will win this one.

And for those who mention it, marriage is not strictly a religious institution.

The idea of polygamy is thousands of years older than the idea of gay marriage. If you support gay marriage I can't think of any legitimate reason to be against polygamy.

Yup. One bad apple in the bottom of a bushel of apples will eventually affect all the apples.
Why do gays need to be married, anyway? Why should they be allowed to raise kids? Not that monoganous parents make good parents--a lot of them shouldn't have any kids.

Soon everyone will want their "rights" championed and made legal, including polygamits and polyandrists. Then pederasts will make it look as if they were doing nice things and should have freedom of expression too, then on to rape, robbery, and murder.
Stop political correctness and save the world.

There is no correlation between gay marriage rights and polygamy. To suggest otherwise is ignorant.

Why do you care? Think about minding your own business for once.

I honestly don't care about polygamy or gay marriage. It doesn't effect me.

Furthermore, if it is made legal, then I probably won't attend any ceremonies because I DON'T CARE.

Consenting adults should be able to do whatever they want to/with each other. The government has no business recognising and regulating marriage, a religious ceremony, anyway.
