I am pregnant w/my first baby...and when I asked the public to comment if they liked the boy/girl names I had picked out-some of those people were quite honestly down right mean/cruel! It is your baby,,,and I can't think of anything more wonderful of a name w/both of your friends. What are the odds? I think is a very great thing that you are doing, and I say if you like it...that is all that matters! Sebashton-no, is not a horrible name! I've even seen it used in movies. I wish you all the best of luck. Kids are going to find things to make fun of whether it's a name or clothing or some disfiguration. I blame the parents for bad behavior like that...however, even if they were to make fun of his name...he would appreciate it severely when he grows up. I know I would. Again, good luck.

Honey, theres a reason that book was written in 1982 and its now 2007. Jennifers and Jasons were in, and Sebastian was new and fresh. However, you really should look at a couple of factors:
- Will the name portray an uneducated side that I'm not or don't wish to portray?
- Is the name going to get my son made fun of (and, yes, kids do make fun of eachother for their names. Weird spellings, weird names, strange pronounciations, they ALL get made fun of)
- Are there any things that could give Sebastian a strange connotation (I personally always think of the lobster in the Little Mermaid, so while your son goes through that stage it may be a little hard on him, but the nickname Seb is good and strong and should hold him through that point in his life)
- Nicknames?
So, yes, it really is THAT bad of a spelling. Its an incredibly handsome name, and I think the thought was nice, after your two friends (my condolences by the way), but I think that you would feel better in the long run if he was named properly with the correct spelling, Sebastian or Sebastien.
I almost forgot: another good way to check if you really love a name or if its really a good one: imagine going to a doctor's office and seeing the name on the door. Would you be inclinced to check him or her out? If you saw Dr. Kaylie Smith and Dr. Elizabeth Smith next to eachother, which one would you choose? If you saw Dr. Sebashton Jones and Dr. Sebastian Jones, which would you choose?
Congratulations on your son!

The name is good: but the spelling is TERRIBLE.
You know, it looks like someone wanted to call the child "Sebastian" and don't know how to write, so he writes it like it is pronounced. I'm from Germany, and here are some people spelling the name "Mike" like "Maik" (it sounds the same in German) or "Susen" instead of "Susan". And those are people that often seem to be less educated, and so also the kids have a harder life because everyone seeing that spelling will think "Well, they wanna be international, but they seem to be mor stupid instead of international". And you're not right: kids also made fun only of names - ask my cousine, she has the today in Germany very old-fashioned name Anneliese ;-)
So, If I were you I would either call my son "Sebastien" or "Seb Ashton" (two names). The first one would be the exact sounding but the much more commen writing, and the second one would refer to those two persons you want to remember. But I would never use "Sebashton".

Sebastian and Sebastien are actually names. Sebashton is not. Sebastien is pronounced seb-***-chee-enn, not seb-bash-tin. Sebashton does appear uneducated, as if you can't spell a common name properly. When you name a baby, you don't name based on cuteness. Good grief. Cuteness is a top reason to avoid a name. Nicknames are cute. Given names should be able to last a lifetime, without people snickering behind your son's back over what you did to him because you thought it was keyewt and kree8tiff.

Spell it the traditional way and it wouldn't be as bad.
Sebastian
Dedicating his name in memory of your friends is sweet, but no one will know this. He will forever have to explain the story AND how to spell his name. Just give him the traditional spelling if find another way to incorportate Ashton. You can always find out the middle name or go with a last name. Maybe wait and name your second child after the other friend?

You will always find someone who does't like your kid's name, no matter if you name him Jacob or Sebashton.
Everyone probably at some time will get made fun of because of their name, or get their name spelled wrong. My first name is Megan (the original Welsh spelling), and my friend Kim calls me Meagan (pronounced MEE-gan), and my friend Cara calls me MegHan (meg-HAN) pecause they know how much it annoys me when people spell my name wrong.
I think it's sweet that you would name him after your friends. The only thing that matters is that you like the name, and you think your future son can live with the name. As the parent, it's up to you to decide that, not anyone else. Good luck!

Its your baby- so I would say do what you feel comfortable I think that its great that u are able honor your friends by naming your son that, the spelling is different and it will just take some time for others to get used to the spelling, besides if celebs can name their babies apple or phineous (yeah dont know how to spell that) then i dont see why you cant name your baby sebashton. Good Luck!

Actually, I love it spelled your way. It's a unique name anyway that is not over-used and I love names spelled a lil differently. And for it to contain not one but TWO of your friends names, that is just awesome! Remember, this is YOUR baby... don't worry about what other people think. Sebashton is adorable and nobody is going to care how it's spelled!

Ah, properly, it somewhat is no longer in all probability a question appropriate to the call, is it? The kitten does not understand what its call ability, regardless. Trixie, workstation, Missy, Rekcuf are all a similar to it. And in case you probably did no longer element out that it replaced right into a profanity, spelled backwards, maximum people does not subject to think of something of it. Rekcuf, stated "Recuff," is in basic terms variety of wierd and cute, no longer vulgar. however the care and feeding of the animal is needed, and if that's no longer likely to be interior the kitten's suited activity, you ought to intervene there. forget approximately the call. it somewhat is the well-being and properly being of the animal. As on your involvement with "those adult males," that seems to be irrelevant. in case you extremely care appropriate to the kitten's well-being, then you ought to intervene. be sure that it somewhat is receiving adequate and desirable nutrition. be sure that it will be saved previous the stupid and goofy few months of dorm existence. In different words, in case you prefer a properly-socialized, healthful cat, come could, you have no longer made an excellent determination. Act now. Be to blame. Be kinder.
