I suck on ice from time to time and I went to take a cube out of the ice tray, and like an idiot, stuck it directly on my tounge. Well, I guess it was too cold because after that, it stuck to my tounge. Without thinking, I just grabbed the cube and pulled hard. Well you can only imagine the pain. It felt like parts of the skin on my tounge had came off along with the ice cube. It really hurts. I looked at my tounge and all I saw was a bit of blood but it feels like the worst tounge burn ever. I ran warm water on my tounge but don't know what else to do, since i've never had anything wrong with my tounge before. Any suggestions on what to try?

try to avoid extreme temperatures, treat it like a regular burn or cut. to clean it, use luke warm water and salt. swish it in your mouth for a few minutes. do this often. and do not brush your tongue or use a tongue scrubber for a while. don't use alot of toothpaste, as it will burn. try a small amount of baking soda, or just plain water for a few days.

The pain should not hurt for long, the tongue heals very fast. I would recommend using ice to numb it, but the thought of that probably does not sound good to you. Hang in there and maybe try drinking some warm tea. Hope that helps for you.

Rinse your mouth with salt water.

Take comfort in knowing that the tongue is the fasted healing part of the human body. It should be back to normal in a day or two.

It will heal fairly fast. Usually overnight. Not much you can do about it in the meantime.

Sometimes the simplest lessons are the most painful to learn.

Take a pain reliever and sip cool liquids - no warm water.

There isn't really much you can do for it but it will heal over time.
