Adam that is just like Rosie implying that our soldiers are terrorists and then saying she didn't say it. You just listed a bunch of empty definitions of a fascist state (like Nazi Germany) and compared it to the USA. You implied that we are Fascist or moving in that direction. Now get some guts and admit it. Do you think you are simply so much more "intellectual" than the rest of America that we simply can't comprehend your idiotic point?
You don't like the present state of our country. Or to get "intellectual" you are comparing it to a perfect image of a country you have in your head. Unfortunately this is the real world, and the USA isn't perfect, but, it is closer to perfect than any country in the history of humanity. And it's insulting to me and any other Marine who served it when a pseudo intellectual like yourself implies anything other than that.

The question was that the US has been turned toward a Fascist state. I do not believe that we are one, but I am concerned that the present administration is trying to change the direction of the country and it includes similarities to other countries that we considered Fascist. The people that are concerned love America as much as anyone else. They are screaming at the top of their lungs that there is a problem. Let us all look at what we are doing and if it is turning the country in the wrong direction, let's do something about it. At least do something in 2008 in the election booth.

He didn't say he hated America. He was just pointing out the fact that there is a strong anti-intellectual current here in the US. In fact, the anti-intellectual current has been much talked about, and it's believed to be one of the reasons why so many people voted for Bush instead of Gore in 2000.

because this country is so messed up. history is repeating itself. and we are moving toward fascism.
I wouldn't call it 'hate'. its just anger and some resentment. its also not america as a nation, but its current state

Who said I hated America?
Aren't you the one who suggested I leave the country because I simply posed a question?
Offended as a Marine? Please, you’re offended by the sight of yourself in the mirror.
Love for your country is great, but that does not equal unconditional love for your country’s government and policies. Don’t you get that? That’s how people were fooled in these fascist places.

It has always been the intellectuals who question. We wouldn't be here if without the Enlightenment and intellectuals questioning the status quo.

I would say its always been fashionable to hate the English speaking nations among intellectuals. The Europeans have always hated the English and continue to do so to this day.

It isn't hatred to be concerned for the fate of your native country.
Nor is it love or patriotism to be a mindless suck up for anyone or anything that wraps itself up in the flag.
