Well. I was taught one should wait until marriage because it's less changes for STDs and having the other person walk out on you.I personally think I would like to save mine for the man I really love and give the most presicous thing I can to him but i was wondering what others thought.

Oh no, waiting until marriage is right, very right. The reasons you stated about STD's and the other person not walking out on you are correct. But the most important one is your reason for saving yourself for your spouse. You and he are giving each other the gift of yourself--heart, body, mind, and soul. You two will come together in a special way that transcends any other activity, and will feel the most powerful emotions and pleasures in the universe. It is well worth the wait.

As long as you use a condom, there's not much chance of catching an STI, and most are easily treatable anyway if they're caught early (apart from hepB and HIV...). I think the question of having sex before marriage is definately an emotional and moral one, not a physical one. I'm 19 and haven't had sex, but I think that once im in a long term relationship I will. The reason I think I'll have sex before marriage is that i'm on a really long uni course and wont probably get married before im at least 28!! Also, I live in a society now where sex isn't a big deal any more, and is something to be enjoyed, not to be kept really serious. The boys I know would seriously not prefer to marry a virgin! I was brought up catholic, but now am a little confused over my faith. I think if you live in a religious community, its easy to save yourself for marriage, but if you're not religious, theres not really much need. Just have fun and keep safe xxx

(man I have rambled on alot)

I dont think its absolutely right or wrong for a few reasons. One everyone is different as individuals and hold different beliefs about this. This could be a very long discussion but to put it in a nutshell... IMHO, I think its morally and ethically proper to not engage oneself intimately with someone if one has no reason to commit into a relationship. For many reasons of course, psychological, intimacy issues, problems in future relationships and many more.... Other times its better for some to involve oneself intimately to really 'know' if there's any intimacy at all and build something. Which is of course a very important factor in a healthy marriage. Nowadays its become a trend of some kind to keep 'fishing' for as long as you can, and marriage has become an alien concept to many individuals. Some of the reasons are different values, morals, ungratefulness and selfishness. Then again, this kind of behavior suits some people and does not suit others. One must try at their own risk. ;) Good day to you ;)

Most men could care less if you have saved yourself or not. It gives a guy a slight ego boost that he is the only one you've ever been with but that is about it. What most men really care about is how good are you and how open minded are you.
Personally, I'd be pissed off if I married a woman without having had sex only to find out she's repressed or just plain sucks (not in the good way).
Condoms are a great way to also reduce your risk of STD's. It reduces the risk to what I call acceptable levels. Agreed they are not 100% effective but neither is walking across the street without being hit by a car.

Waiting isn't "wrong" but it isn't "right" either! People can way too caught up in all of this religious nonsense when it comes to sex. Sex is a natural act and it's normal for two people who like each other and are attracted to each other to want to have sex. While you should be careful and not give yourself away, there really in no reason to wait until marriage to have sex. Do what feels right....

It's all personal choice. If you feel it's the right thing for you to wait until marriage for sex, that's wonderful! Stick to your guns on this. I for one, have never felt it was important for me to wait. I do not regret my choice to lose my virginity, nor be in intimate relationships now. If I was seeing someone who was waiting until marriage, I'd respect and accept that decision of course. But that person would also have to respect and accept that I chose not to, if we were to have a relationship.

It's a good idea to wait until marriage, but it's not the end of the world if you don't. I wish that I had waited, but I'm glad that I've had all the experiences that I have had.

Waiting insures that you will have nothing to compare your man to, therefore making him ideal. Most people cant accomplish this though. If you must have sex, then use some form of protection to prevent STD's as well as unwanted pregnancy. Remember, you must take care of yourself, because no one else will!!!

i agree and disagree as one yes its nice to wait and used to be the thing to do but! what if you find that you are not compatible in the bed room and that leads to stress and then one of you end up in bed with someone else? you don't buy a new car on looks alone do you, no you take it for a test drive!!

Well yes and no. I am a firm believer in sex and love going hand in hand. However, you do not need to be married to be in love. Couples that have spent years together and are deeply in love have every right to express that love physically.
