in the context of rugby league, there is only THE joey. Joey is the nickname for Andrew Johns, the recently retired halfback for Newcastle, NSW and Australia - recognised as the best player in the game (until he retuired, needless to say!).

A joey is a baby kangaroo. Also, some Italians are called Joey's. It just means you act very Italian. Say it with me, "Hey Jooooooeyyyy."

A joey is a baby kangaroo but in NRL it probably refers to Andrew Jones (Joey). He was a really good football player but he had to retire earlier this season. He played for Newcastle and was really good at his kicking!!
