The best ones I've heard are taking long walks, having intercourse, eating very spicy foods, stimulating the nipples (for hours!) and taking castor oil and red raspberry leaf tea.
But for most women, all the remedies fail and baby just comes when ready. And some of the remedies, like castor oil, can cause unpleasant side effects like nausea and diarhea.

There are lots of ways to induce labor without having to be induced in the hospital. If you want to go into labor completely drug free then sex and/or accupunture (view link at bottom) may help. If you are willing to try some herbs or over the counter drugs then try castor oil or black/blue cohosh. Be cautioned though b/c i tried castor oil and it just made me sick, whereas i tried sex and ended up in the hospital that night with contractions every 5 min. My sister tried the cohosh and it work for her. Hope this helps and Good luck !

"Natural birth" and "induce labor" are contradictory terms. You are essentially asking us to help you do what you want your doctor NOT to do. ;)
If you truly want a natural birth, let it happen on its own. Have faith and confidence that your body knows what to do and when to do it.
If you go too far past your due date and your doctor recommends induction, it should be done in a hospital in a controlled environment and not be attempted at home, unmonitored, by using old wives tales that at best do not work, and at worst can make you very sick, put the baby into distress, and increase the likelihood that you would need a c-section.

my husband and I had sex and a few hours after that I went into labor. Call it a coincidence, but I was a week early. My water broke during sex... HOWEVER...with my second child he didn't want to go anywhere...he was a week late and I did have to be induced and they had to break my water. They say that sperm contains (naturally) a prostaglandin or some thing like that...which is found to induce labor...Drs. actually use this to help jump start contractions because it softens the cervix.

Hello.
I am 35 weeks pregnant and I understand what you are feeling.
What works for one person may not work for another.
For my first pregnancy I ate rum cake from a fancy restaurant.
I went into labor and she was out in three hours.
For my Second pregnancy I did squats for about 20 minutes, took a pee break.lol Kept doing squats until my legs said no more. Then at 5 am the next morning my water broke.
Thats what has worked for me. I hope this helps you hun!
You could also try Castor oil with juice(tastes gross but worked for my sister!! )

BE VERY CAREFUL my aunt tried to induce labor on her own when she was preg i dont know what she did I think it was a bumpy car ride or something but the baby suffered and was born with mental inabilities, its not worth it i assume your going natural to avoid hurting the baby so why take the chance on hurting your baby this way?

You can drink castor oil to induce labor but it tastes nasty. I got down enough to start my labor but it didn't really progress. Sex is supposed to help. I think there's something in semen that helps soften the cervix lining or something like that. Of course, having sex around a 9 month belly isn't very easy. Walking is the only other thing I know of.

As crazy as it sounds, I have heard that eating spaghetti...(or some kind of genuine Italian food, i.e. lasagna, or pasta with a tomato based sauce) could stimulate labor. I think it has something to do with the spices. Like most of the ladies have said...the baby will come when he/she is ready. You may also talk to your doctor about possibly trying to "strip your membranes" That could possibly push things along.

sex sex sex sex, walking, bumpy car ride, castor oil.
oxytocin is the chemical in your body that triggers uterus contractions. that same hormone is released during orgasm by you and is also in semen. nipple stimulation also releases this hormone.
walking keeps pressure on the cervix and allows for thining and dilation.
bumpy car ride is said to break your bag of water but isnt really reliable, lol, or comfy.
castor oil wouldnt be fun but its a laxative and is used by lots of mid wives to induce. check the info out on the web!
