Infant mortality is used to compare the health and well-being of populations across and within countries. The infant mortality rate, the rate at which babies less than one year of age die, has continued to steadily decline over the past several decades, from 26.0 per 1,000 live births in 1960 to 6.9 per 1,000 live births in 2000. The United States ranked 28th in the world in infant mortality in 1998
Infant mortality among African Americans in 2000 occurred at a rate of 14.1 deaths per 1,000 live births.2 This is more than twice the national average of 6.9 deaths per 1,000 live births.

I apologize for not elaborating, however, this is directly related to a lack of access to quality pre and post natal care. How do people propose to deal with this?

I suppose the point being made with your question is that the reduction in the infant mortality rate is a function of abortions. Though this may be true, in part, it seems advances in medicine and nutrition may play a greater role.
I don't feel there is enough data presented to make a case for pro-life, or for pro-choice. It simply becomes an argument that requires more data to settle.

That's partly because black people tend to be poor, so they don't get good medical care for the duration of the pregnancy. Also black people represent about 14% of the US population but have 28% of the births. When one group is that poor and has that many babies without medical attention problems are going to happen.

For one thing, we pro lifers are concerned about a culture that promotes death over life. We can't fix African culture -- if it needs fixing, that is for the African people to do, and will, as we have been, do what we can to assist them in their time of need --- but we are VERY concerned about our own culture and what it says about us when a 14 year old girl can have an abortion without parental consent but that same 14 year old girl can't be corporeally punished for the very behavior that got her pregnant without the law taking her away from her parents. What kind of culture is THAT?

I fail to see the connection that you apparently find significant.
Is it your contention that being Pro Life somehow contributes to the infant mortality rate?
Or perhaps you think that Pro Lifers should focus their concern for life on children who were permitted to be born, and just allow abortion on demand?
Is the point that if we could convince more african americans to have abortions, that would bring their infant mortality rate down?

Your question doesn't seem to jive with your statistics. Pro-lifers are against abortion. To have an infant mortality rate the parent would have chosen life.

What does this have to do with pro-life or not, many of these deaths probably occurred from life styles promoted by pro-choice liberals. Some regretfully can not be helped. on the other hand if the pro abortion crowd had their way, most if not all would have "died" early.

I think they would argue the reason the rate is so high among African Americans is that nearly three out of every four black children are born out of wedlock.
Interestingly enough, blacks also have the highest rate of abortions.

Because we don't use statistics to pretend that racism still exists.
I am glad that infant mortality has gone down since 1960!

Do Dems want to see black babies die? I hope not.
BUT, most blacks are governed by DEMOCRAT Governors and DEMOCRAT mayors.
Blacks largely vote for DEMOCRATS.
Are the Democrats treating blacks badly by not standing up for them?
It's funny that you put this post up. Are you completely unaware that most states have full, free pre-natal care avaiable to all mothers-to-be?????????????????/
Why don't you post something interesting about that?

What does this have to do with intentionally killing babies?
Are you trying to say that abortion is good, because some of the babies would die anyway?
What kind of logic is that?
