The pros are many!
1. You buy gender neutral baby clothes so you can use them for your other children. It sucks to be stuck with boxes of pink stuff and your second baby is a boy. You have to go out and spend hundreds more on a new wardrobe. By the way, "pea green and yellow" are not the only colors that work for boys and girls. I got lots of cute clothes that were white and pale blue that worked for my girls and boys. Besides, newborns don't wear much anyway except white onesies for the first few months!
2. You have more to tell your family when the baby is born then how much he/she weighs!
3. You can have fun guessing and let family and friends join in the game.
4. You have something to look forward to as you are going through your labor. Not only can you tell yourself "when this is over I will be holding my baby" but you can also say "when this is over I will know whether I have a daughter or a son"

Think of it like its christmas morning and there is this really cool looking present under the tree and you've been dying to find out what was in it and now you are so excited and you open it up and find out that it has a check for a million bucks. It kinda gives you that feeling when they deliver your baby and you hear it cry and know that is your little son or daughter. The wait is worth it. We didnt know with our first one she wouldnt cooperate and the funny thing is it was a complicated pregnancy so we had a bunch of extra ultrasounds and everytime they would go down there to look she would roll over or stick her hands down there. Congrats on the baby.

Its defenitly a mystery when you see your child's eyes and ofcourse..find out its gender! It defenitly builds up excitement for both you and your husband, never knowing what to expect or what to imagine. Before your baby is born you will find yourself facing a zillion surprises, maybe a girl maybe a boy. Your imagination will have a blast just trying to picture scenerios with your new baby. Its a good choice you decided to do this. People that know already have it ruined for them, they know what to expect at the moment of the birth with names picked out and all, no surprise at all.

Good for you. The best part, is that in the delivery room, Daddy gets to call it! Have your names picked out and when the baby arrives, Daddy does the introduction.
That is what we did with our 1st and plan on doing with this one. Baby came out and with tears in his eyes, my husband yelled - its its its.... NORAH!!!!! It is a memory he cherishes. He introduced his daughter to the world.
It also helps with pushing. I think it just gives you a little more oomph to get the baby out and see what you have.
Congratulations.
Oh as far as colors of clothing - the mention of yellow and green always comes up. Well we had yellow, green, tan, white, purple, orange, red, and every shade inbetween. And when we got our girl, we were overwhelmed with pink;
I don't think green/yellow or not being able to call the baby anything , is not a good enough excuse to find out the sex. Our baby is called "The baby" right now.

1. Hearing the doctor say, "It's a boy!" after being so sure it was a girl. And seeing the look of joy on my husband's face (he really wanted another boy).
2. Calling my mom and dad aunt to tell them and hearing how excited they were. When I called after my first two (when I knew what I was having), it just wasn't the same to say, "He/She's here!"

The best thing is that if you are one of 15% where the sonographer got the sex WRONG! All those pink or blue things to return for blue or pink things.
Since I don't buy stuff (I make afghans or quilts), I just make stuff in colors that they might like vs. pink or blue. That way, if they got a ton of blankies, they can always use it for the next baby too.

The anticipation of not knowing until the exact moment that precious little baby arrives. Making the announcement of the babies arrival may be more suspenseful if no one knows the gender. Congratulations!
