ACT

A-Accept Your Current State
C-Create Your Desired State
T-Take Steps To Reach Your Desired State

Remember what your goals are. Like, say you want to be a a great musician. How would you walk if you were the greatest musician ever? How would you talk? How would you spend your time?

If you ever lose inspiration, remind yourself how good you will feel when you reach your goal.

Check out Mind Gym by Gary Mack. It is written for sports, but it can be applied directly to life.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

I'm about a million years old, so I don't know if I'm answering the question the way you asked it. But let me say -- "Inspired" for what?

I'm trying to write a book, have been for several years now. And I was "inspired" to begin it because of previous reading I had done; I wanted to address a certain question and answer it.

To get "inspired" to work on the book, however, I mostly try to rely on regular work habits. Some of the people who write for a living say if you want to write a book, for example, you need an original idea and maybe an outline, maybe not an outline.

But to actually do the writing, you need to set aside time to work on it, pretty much every day (time off for Sunday or Sabbath if you religion calls for this, of course.). Some professional authors say they regularly plan on writing 1 or 2 or 4 pages a day, every day, and changing whatever needs changing as they go along. Or they write 1-4 pages every day and don't edit their work until they're finished -- after they've turned out 200 or 300 pages or whatever.

Or some writers plan on spending so much time every morning working -- an hour, two hours, whatever.

And they may do other things besides to stay "inspired" -- take walks, read other things, listen to music, or whatever.

But the important thing is to keep working, keep exploring your plot and your material and your words, and as you keep working the inspiration often comes to you. If you wait for the emotional feeling of "being inspired" before you start, however, you're at the mercy of your mood of the moment, and you're not as likely to get a lot done.

There are all kinds of songs that work. Everybody has a song that makes them stop and feel odd inside. Mine personally is Brand New Colony by The Postal Service.

Another good way would be to sit still for a long time. After a while, your mind will wander and begin to imagine, then you attack your project.

Remembering dreams works good to, they activate your subconcious or something.

When I write I like to look at my old journals and that helps because I get caught up in the moment and feel what I felt then. I also go for walks in my neighborhood. My personal favorite thing I do when I hit a block is wait until night and go swing on the swings and look at the stars. It almost always works but that is me I dont know what works for you!
