Dr. Rudrangshu Mukherjee says it should not be, because it was very violent. Other historians says it should be. Junta, what do you think?

It must be celebrated. It is a historical fact which can not be denied. Even if it was a violent act. Actually this was first organised act of throwing out the British rule from India and was done jointly by the followers of both the major religions of India. In fact it brought the followers of two religions closest possible thanks to their hatred for Britishers.

When are you going to celebrate ,in 1957 you would have celebrated,you will be celebrating once again in 2057 .Why are hurry about it in 2007, itself, that fellow has gone away ,there are humty numbers of peoples tummy is empty.Don't waste public money .If you are celebrating with your money celebrate,are ask the historians to bring the fund which may need to celebrate ..

After seeing what is happening in independent India -- police laathi-charging, corrupt politicians and officers, looting and arson. India's independence is the biggest farce in this world. I feel sorry for all those who sacrificed their lives in the name of independent India.including, Gandhi , Nehru, Subhash Chandra Bose, Sardar Vallabh bhai Patel etc.
No need to celeberate. we should hang down our head in shame.

we need some cool patriotism and we should commemmarate any theme which will reinforce our patriotism. We should have national flag in all our houses and say vande matram as a group all over india. We should reinforce our hard fought independence
