I was told by the women at WIC that even with a doctors written script they sill still only cover certain formulas. My son had Carnation Goodstart with a doc excuse. But now they say they wont cover and Enfamil or Nestle regardless. That Similac is the best and that they're all really the same. Even with the excuse they still over gave me Similac and Isomil brands. Im assuming it changed. The more I asked, the lady got aggrivated so I thanked her and left. Figured somebody on here would know form using the program

It's true that even if a doctor requests it, WIC will only provide certain formulas and Good Start is not one of them.

I was disappointed with them, too, because the comfort proteins in the Good Start made my son have less gas, but WIC would only provide Similac/Isomil and in some states Enfamil.

If you have a really good medical reason to use a certain formula and WIC will not cover it, then I would say forget WIC and just buy that formula. But if your baby can tolerate other brands ok and you are really strapped for money, just use the formula WIC provides.

You can ask WIC about special formulas under the brands they do provide. For instance, they should have Gentlease and Nutrimigen or A.R. or the equivalents for babies with problems like gas or frequent spit-up or lactose sensivity.

The only thing that WIC covers is Similac and Isomil unfortunately. Although I might try taking with someone else if there is a medical reason why your child needs the other. You may have caught her on a bad day, so I would recommend calling back and talking with someone different. If you get the same response then you will know for sure. Good Luck.

I live in Arkansas and out Wic covers enfamil or similic. Both of mine were preemies and I had a doctors perscription for enfiamil premie wich was 200 bucks a for a flat of premixed ready to stick a nipple on it bottles and we had to have 2 of them a month so they really saved us we never would have been able to afford the formula on our own. If you have any ?s and the local office is being difficult look up the number for the state head office and talk to them there you might get more done that way.

I thought that the WIC office would cover any kind of formula. That is at least the impression I got from the WIC office I go to. It maybe different depending on the state you are in I am not sure. I hate having to go the WIC office though they are always rude everytime I go in there. I really wish formula wasn't so expensive so I didn't have to deal with them.

We use "Enfamil Gentle Ease" low lactose formula and WIC covers it in Indiana. I'd ask to speak to a supervisor!

Here in Kansas the only option you have is Enfamil. But they have so many variteties of that, I'm sure the one your son takes would be the same as one of Enfamils. But anyways, the second sentence of your description doesn't make sense, and confused me, so I don't know what you are really asking.

All you have to do is call a different location and don't tell them your name and ask what type of formula can you purchase on Wic.

That is why you should pay for your own formula.
