I have just moved into a new flat and have white bathroom floor tiles. There are quite a lot of marks on them, which looks like either tile cement or sealant. The builders told me to use white spirit, but that does not work. Can anybody out there tell me what else to use.

WOOOOOOOOOO, if they are a dull/matt tile then you dont want a knife on them as it will do more harm than good, you need a cream called blanco clean, they use it on marble sinks and resin sinks to get rid of the crap that stains them, i use it and its great, (on my Blanco sink)go to a good sink/kitchen shop and get it from them, do not use a knife. if anything rub it with a dish cloth until it comes out , it may take a while but you wont ruin your serphace....Do NOT Use White Spirit, it will look bad. take your time with none bleaching crams etc...

Edge of a Stanley Knife blade and scrape it off gently - the only way - hold blade at 30 - 45 degrees

Scrape it off with a plastic scraper, plastic won't scratch the tile.

You could try warm water and 3m abrasive sponge.. if this fails try WD40, that sometimes works on difficult marks.
