A friend told me this one, and since I am here... well, so we were talking about dreams and he tells me that he dreamt that he had a girl tied to a chair and was killing her, it was really gore, but it kind of made this person happy? I mean, the actual killing (in the dream) made him happy. He said it was nobody he knew. Is this guy sick? He was kind of proving to me that dreams do not mean anything, but I think they do.

Actually contradicting the first answer, scientist know next to nothing about dreams, what they mean, why we have them and where they come from. Its a big mystery, sort of like how Bush got elected.

What little I've read about dreams, the actual act never seems to have a literal meaning. For instance, if you dream of swimming, it has something to do with sex-? or if you're dying, it means some huge life-altering event is about to take place, or has. I've seen numerous books on dream interpretation but have actually never read any...yet.
Sounds to me like you're 'friend' was making the whole thing up. Probably trying to imply it was you in the chair and either thought it was a joke or was trying to intimidate you. If you think he was serious, I'm sure you can easily find a dream interpretation book that covers it.

Very few dreams actually mean anything. He might have slept in front of a TV turned on. I've noticed sometimes that can cause me to dream something similar to the program although not exact.

Most people have fantacies about torture and murder long before they muster up the courage to do it. Was this a one time thing? Do they still have dreams like this? It may be an idication of a serious illness.

That probably means that your friend enjoys violence. Enjoys giving people pain. At least he's not doing that in real life! (I hope!)
