I would say so. He was a crucial part of them getting a bye in the 1st round of the playoffs, had 22TDs vs 9INT, and the best QB rating for a 1st year starter who played over 10 games since Dan the Man (92.0). His numbers were better than Manning and Big Ben (even though P Riv & Ben both lost in the 1st round their 1st starting seasons) and Brady wasn't a rookie when he took over. The only one who was close was Marino, but he didn't get a bye and it's all about championships. Case closed, go NC State Wolfpack!

So what if he's a Charger fan... he just asked a question, give the guy a break... sheesh! But no, while impressive, River's first year as the starter was not the best in the NFL. I wouldn't even say Big Ben's was other than the fact that the TEAM went 15-1. I'd have to give it to Dan Marino as his rookie year was just awesome. Regardless of numbers though I'd have to say the most impressive starting year for a quarterback was Tom Brady as he did come in and win the superbowl in his first year as a starter.

Well you should say his first FULL year as a starter. He actually played the last game his rookie year. Big Ben went 13-0 his rookie year and 1-1 in the playoffs. Sure the playbook was cut way down, but he was a TRUE rookie. The Colts DIDN'T get to the playoffs Manning's first year. He went 3-13. Marino probably was the best. Brady was good his first full season as well.

Tom Brady probably had the best first year starting in the NFL with a Super Bowl victory over the St. Louis Rams.

I'm a charger fan and i think Rivers first season was all right LT help him a lot by scoring 30 Tds and throwing a few also. Plus that Defense was key also. But lets keep it real he did even win a playoff game. But the answer is Dan Mariano

nope. Roethilsberger made it to the AFC final,Dan Marino had an incredible first starting season, Tom Brady won a Superbowl in his first starting season and Peyton Mannings Rookie year brought the colts from the gutter to a playoff spot and he had 3800 yards as a ROOKIE. What did rivers do? had LT make the playoffs and then lose the game

I'd have to agree with most of the folks answers here. Dan Marino probably had the best season for a first year starter.

Brian Hoyer "the only reason tom brady is supposedly the suited is by using the jewellery on his hands. up till this 12 months, he truly hasn't accomplished too plenty. the place's the consistency that folk like elway, aikman, and favre(aside from this 12 months) all had?" Now why are you going to declare something like that and make me clutter up my answer? Lifetime passer score: Brady - ninety 5 Elway - seventy 9.8 Aikman - 80 one.6 Favre - 86 For Brady to be as consistent with the aid of fact the others you indexed he'd ought to pass back in time and throw one greater 15-20 interceptions consistent with season. i'm going to on no account forgive you for making me upload this =|

obviously not

but you're probably a Chargers fan, so no matter what logical reasons people give you, you'll disagree

Roethlisberger did win a ring....although that was more because of the running game/defense than it was him
much more
Brady got a ring

and Dan Marino had a hell of a rookie year
played in something like 12 games and had over 2000 yards, 20 TDs and 6 ints.
I'm pretty sure on this number....his 96.0 passer rating was the highest ever by a rookie.

Phillip Rivers........haha

Check Dan Marino's rookie season. They made it to the super bowl. So, I have to say not at all. Try taking LT away from the equation and you might have a different situation.
