How dirty? What type of dirty? Is it filled and the water is dirty or is it empty and the pool is dirty?

Any extra information will help.

It depends on what the dirt is. Is it actual dirt and leaves? Is it algae? Calcium, lime, rust? You could start with a pool vacuum. You may have to clean out the filter a few times and vacuum a few times before you feel like it is clean. You can also scrub the walls and tile with a brush and they make cleaner for that as well. Check your local pool supply store or hardware store for these things. Tell the sales people your problem and they may be able to recommend some chemicals and cleaning agents to help you out.

Good luck!
