Typically, I ignore it.

I hear one every month at noon on the first Wednesday of the month as they run the sirens in my town for a drill.

If it's not noon on the first Wednesday of the month and I hear them, I turn on the radio to hear what the Joint Communications and Emergency Operations Center has to say. Usually it's an announcement of impending severe weather.

If it's not a drill, then I would freak out because I live on a military base.
