The only team the Yankees have proven to beat this year is the Pirates. It would be fun to see the Yankees get the Wild Card though, it would be real fun!

Considering the only winning streak they have had all year came against to sub .500 teams I think Yankees fans are coming out the of the closet a little to early. They just beat the White Sox that are in shambles and the Pirates who are a bad team. They are going to have two tough series coming up, they have Wang pitching against Brandon Webb tonight and I think they will lose and they are also going to drop anotehr game tomorrow night with Mussina on the hill, I think they will take game three with Pettite on the mound, he has been there best pitcher, somewhat inconsistent at times but really good and I think they will have another tough time against the Mets and probably drop 2 of 3 to them as well and Friday night will be a nice test for Clemens pitching against a team with some better bats then the Pirates. I think the Yankees have a shot at the Wild Card of course but as for the division they are still a long way out, I know it is early and I am not counting them out but lets see them beats some real teams.

They do have a chance to come back against the Red Sox if they continue to play well head to head. They have won 2 out of 3 the last 2 series they have played. They still have a lot more games remaining and if they continue to win series they do have a great shot of making up the 9 1/2 games. The Mets right now are the best team in the NL (although in a little bit of a slump) and they'll only get better if they get Pedro back.
Whoever has the best pitching at the end of the season wins it...the Yanks have been decimated by injuries, but if they go into the playoffs with Clemens, Pettite, Mussina, Wang & Hughes they will be tough to beat in a short series.

The Yankees just played 2 of the more pathetic teams there is this year - the offensive and bullpen challenged White Sox, and the all around bad Pirates. Most teams can and have beaten them. But that does not mean the Yankees are "coming back strong". In fact, they will lose again soon. So no - they will not make the playoffs.

The yankees don't stand a chance of going to the WS. They are too shaky and don't have the pitching to go deep into the playoffs. I agree though that they might come back and take the division. Also the Mets will be in the WS.

I want the Red Sox to win the division, but it's not like they need that to get the job done. When the Yankees win the division what does it get them? They just loose later! Like when they dropped 4 in a row when my boys won the World Series!

Yankees win Wild Card, beat the Bosux in the ALCS, and triumph over the Dodgers in the WS in seven games for the ages. It will be magnificent. . . .

I think the Yankees will be lucky to get another early first round playoff exit. The team is hot now, and they're STILL not even at .500 and almost 10 games back from first. Catching the Red Sox isn't going to happen, their only hope is for a wildcard berth.

They make take the division. It's a LONG season, and too hard to tell either way really until at least mid August. But as far as the World Series I don't think so. They are doing well now but it's hard to say, and I just don't think they have the pitching to beat a lot of other teams out there.
