My brother applied for a company in Sharjah. They asked him to send his passport details and he sent it. After that he needs to renew his passport due to shortage of pages in his Passport. Now he got a new passport with the old passport number mentioned in it. He got his work permit from that company with the old passport number. His employer asked him to come with that copy to the Airport and get his visa stamped there in the UAE airport. Can he really travel with the work permit with old passport number (but carrying a new passport with old number mentioned in it) ? Will there be a problem with that? Any answers with in 1 or 2 days will be really really helpful... Thanks in Advance.

I believe your brother has got a new passport (technically additional booklet) in lieu of completion of pages on the existing one with the same validity. But in this case the passport authorities will cancel the old one. That means it is not valid now, even if the details are endorsed in the new booklet too. So now the solution is send the copy of new passport to his proposed employer in Sharjah and ask to replace the new pp number with the old. The formality in Sharjah is the company has to resubmit the original entry permit to the Labor and immigration departments to resolve this issue. Accordingly the immigration dept will reissue a new permit and normally take max two working days.

Good luck.

p.s. ask a revised copy of permit from the employer once the formalities are over.

Let him send a copy of the new passport to his sponsor. Let them endorse his new passport number and get his visa reissued with a new passport number. This can be done in a day. Please do insist on having a copy of the new visa to avoid the hassle of getting stuck in the airport, waiting for the new visa to be issued.
