Well, if publicity is the only reward for the people giving you the million pounds then giving you something a bit more entertaining would work out better for them. Lets say they give you a millions pounds of butter. Yes. That would be nice. Just dump it on your lawn. That would really give them some publicity.

For 1 million pounds, a company can get a lot better advertsing campaign thru an advertising agency than by giving it to someone just for news coverage. That would wear off within a week or so.

Now, I have seen companies pay people to do some odd things. I saw one where a girl was paid quite of bit of money to have her hair shaved off and the name of the company tattooed on her bare scalp. I bet it was not worth a million pounds though.
