I notice that most goals in the NHL arent all pretty shots and everything. I notice that the players a lot of the time just shoot at random times and dont always try to set up first, but a lot of the time it goes in. Should i focus more on just getting a shot on net fast or setting up before i shoot?

Depends. The reason they never seem to do it the same is because if you do the same thing every time your opponents will figure it out and shut it down. There is nothing random about it, really. The circumstances and talents of the individual player dictate what they do. If you have the opportunity to shoot, shoot, but if you have a great setup, then you pass it. Work at developing ALL aspects of your game, and vary what you do as much as you are able, and you'll be a better player.
