I work in about 10 community gardens in the city of Chicago. Vacant city lots and I would like know whats the best garden greens to grow.

in the shade leaf lettuce is great it has a one month turn around. And to top that you can start to plant in april and stop in oct. in chicago

Greens to eat raw, would be lettuces, romaines, etc. To cook, you can grow spinach, my personal favorite swiss chard, collards, or turnip greens. It depends on the season and the type of green you choose.
