You don't need a serial number, you need an anti-virus software.
Get AVG Free Edition, it's very good and it's free.

I'm not sure why tou would your serial number to get rid of a virus, but it can usually be found on the underside of your machine. If I knew more about what laptop you have I could help more.
If you are looking for an anti-virus solution, try AVG Free Edition http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1
It is fairly lightweight, so it doesn't slow your computer down as much as Norton and McAfee's packages, plus it is AV ONLY, so no bloatware is inluded, a la Norton Internet Security and the like.

The serial # should be on the bottom of your laptop, but you don't need it to get rid of a virus. Install an Anti-Virus software. Symantec is a good one.

I don't know what kind of laptop you have. But if you still have the box or any of the paper work that comes with it it should be on the there. Or go in to your controls and look for computer info and it should pull it up along with the storage it can hold on the laptop. The last thing you could do is call the suppler and ask them where to find it. the may even be able to just tell you .

Do you mean to reinstall windows? If so usually the serial number is located some where on the bottom of the laptop on a sticker called a COA.

software license number is different, and will be given when you purchased the software, or on the cd, or box of the software

You do not need your serial number to get rid of a virus. You need to run a full scan with your antivirus program...if you don't have one, get AVG:
