That was funny! I guess they didn't want to race him. Hollywood should make a film about that. I would love it for all its absurdities. Saddam, sitting in car- with an unbelievably attractive secretary, who he had sex with in the shower (minutes before they shocked and awed him- or neoconed him- it is the same thing) hahahaha
I mean, you know, that's what I remember, I don't remember the other stuff!

Saddam was well-known for his car collection. Particularly when a middle-class country had been practically starving under international sanctions. When the people of Iraq heard what happened, most were jubilant. As for your original question, it worked, didn't it? Crawled into a hole to hide! :)
