1. Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.

2. Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

3. Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

4. Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can't marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

5. Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Britney Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.

6. Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren't full yet, and the world needs more children.

7. Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.

8. Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America.

9. Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That's why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.

10. Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven't adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans.

hahaha. I love your sarcasm. It exposed how retarded half these people are for either not reading it or not having a sense of humor. I'm going to argue with these anyway, bc I feel like it.

1. Being gay is not natural in that it's not the way to reproduce. But it is natural in that it is very old and some people gravitate toward it. Just because it's natural and you desire it doesn't make it right. Most things that are wrong are natural. It's always harder to do the right thing and resist temptation.

2. "Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay". Come on, you have to believe that this is at least possible. If you have some desire to go that way, peers can definitely help you out of the closet or make you feel like it's acceptable. People have great influence over one another. Think of guys in jail. THey weren't gay to start out with, but now they are boning eachother. Most ancient romans were bi. Most people probably are bi, some just lean one way or the other stronger.

3. "People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract." Hilarious, great point.

4. "Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all" do conservatives even MAKE that argument? I'm ashamed...

5. Divorce is undermining marriage way more than gay marriage is.

6. Gay couples should adopt!

7. Fabulous point. They will, however, raise liberals.

8. But marriage is a religious institution.

9. Children do benefit from having both male and female parents. But better to be raised by one gender than be put in foster care.

10. Again: who makes that point?

I think marriage should be illegal. It should be solely up to the churches to marry people before God. Leave it to them. Everyone should get civil unions and the same benefits. That way, the religious won't have the sanctity or marriage poluted and people won't get married unless they believe that it has spiritual significance. And, legally, we would all be equal. A compromise for all.

Who are we as a society to say that if 2 people love each other and want to dedicate the rest of their lives to each other that shouldn't be able to. I am a Christian and I know the hole thing about God created Adam and Eve and all that but everything else has changed and God didn't smite the world for that, why is this sooooo different? Everyone has to be judged themselves at one point and that is not here or now...so if you love them then do it!!

Reading your question, I was about ready to tell you off, but now I see you agree with me! Gay marriage is good. It's legal in my country. Being prejudice against homosexuality is one of the many things that make America look stupid and weak to the rest of the world!

For those who have a serious nature or who cannot recognizew sarcasm...

The point to this posting was to make fun of the anti-gay marriage lobby's reasons for opposing gay marriage.

I got a laugh out of it. No sensible, intelligent, person opposes gay marriage.

no idont' agree and i am straight. first of all what right do you hae to say to others you can't do this we have freedom here in the U.S. so therefore saying that i say this. the reason for all this mes s is cause they cna't get insurance or anything when teh one dies if there mate is true. so why not let them live and do it i have meet alot of gays they are just people like us wanting to live and they have that right they dont' make it up soemday they will be gay they are and why in teh world must we say what our preference it? hardly any of them would bug a straight person o more then anyone else. gosh open your eyes and see the real reasons for this and let it go i sure am and happier also. take a chance and meet someone gay they are just as nice as regualr people try it.

Great post! I too strongly support gay marriage. It's sad to see that a large number of those who answered have missed the irony and humor in your posting.

I think you're possibly one of the most ignorant people i've ever come across, gay marriage has nothing to do with whats wrong in society...Ask bush..he'll give you the answers to whats wrong..its himself...but for anyone to say that being gay is "wrong" and it will give less meaning to society...you must be very close minded and very judgemental. Unnatural? I dont think so...
