I have a humble pond at home. I always wanted to get a bigger pond and I came across this link : http://sg.auctions.yahoo.com/sg/i:Water%20Feature%20%2F%20Fountain%20%2F%20Fish%20Pond%20%2F%20Landscape:7872289
I LOVE it to death and I know my fish will too! I dream about having koi fish in a nice big pond. I am thinking of putting this in my balcony (we do not have any garden or whatsoever) and creating a garden concept the interior design.
Besides it burning a big hole in my pocket (Im really not well to do I cld cry!), why else shd I not get this?
Trivial I know but as you can imagine I will just get this if its cheap to me but its not... :)

The first reason that comes to my mind is will the balcony hold the weight of this pond?
Secondly, I am not sure where you are located but PetSmart also sells these special order for just under what they are selling it for. They use them as displays for commons but I had inquired about one for my game room, inside. I would look around and inquire at your local pet stores with regards to the price. Who will install the pond and how is it shipped? Will it get thru the door or does it come apart and is reassembled?
I know how you feel about ponds. I have a number of them now and still want another in the game room.

Are you in Singapore? If not the shipping will kill you. I've always wanted a huge pond myself but never had enough space or money so I know how you feel. How about, don't get that one but start planning one for next season. Since you have the room, you can do something personal with it. There's no reason to get someone else's leftovers. You might as well start with new equipment. You can start designing it now and assembling it through the winter. By the time spring is here, you'll be all set to go. Of course, I'm assuming your balcony is outdoors. If it's indoors, then no need to wait after you finish the design. If you design your own, you can make sure to have space for supplies and water change equipment as well as good access to power. If you just buy what they are selling, you don't even know if it will fit right.

It is gorgeous. It is hard to say what the volume in gallons is since I assume the dimensions given include the total footprint and not just the water area. This could be a 500 gallon volume, though. and, depending on what the rock like stuff is made of this pond filled with water could easily weigh thousands of pounds! Not sure your balcony could take this weight. If I were you I'd get a smaller pond, 20-40 gallons maybe, for your balcony and just have a few Goldfish (not koi). You can even keep livebearers and other fish outdoors in warm climates/during the summer.

Water weighs about ten pounds per gallon. Your balcony may not be able to support the weight. I don't know the construction materials, if it is concrete or similar that also adds alot of weight. Also this pond is currently in Singapore, so unless you are also in Singapore you cannot have it shipped to you, as the buyer states that they will not ship internationally. Save the money, put it torwards the price of fuel... it keeps going up & we all need to get to work...

Its kinda ugly... sorry!! Save your money until you buy a house and then put a lovely HUGE deep pond in the backyard. Why buy something second best if you can just wait long enough to afford something better?

This will be incredibly heavy and your balcony might not support it. I doubt you want to get into all the kinds of trouble you can imagine if your balcony collapses. God forbid that should hurt anyone.
Looks nice but not work the risk.

It's beautiful. If you have a place for it and can afford it, go ahead. Life is too short not to splurge a little.
Sorry, you asked reasons not to get it. -
Too expensive, lots of care, not enough room.
