I don't think it's too early... My husband and I have just started TTC baby # 1, and we've talked about buying a pack of diapers every week just to help ourselves financially once we have a baby. We'll just alternate sizes... And ya know if something happens and we don't get pregnant... the next girl I know that's having a baby shower will get tons of diapers. So if you want to stock up on essentials.. Go for it! :) And good luck!

I would say no. Only you know your personal struggles if any during this period of TTC. I am also TTC and a few months ago a friend told me that if i wanted to, go out and purchase a baby item or two and place it somewhere that I can see it daily, in that way it can encourage to go on even through disappointment of getting and period, negative pregnancy tests and the numerous pricks and probes by the doctors and the lab, so this served as a reminder to me of my dreams of being a mommy every time I would get distress. It work for me, because I am at a point in my life where I believe that if I can't conceive naturally or with ART, I will still be a mommy and a baby will one day wear/use what I have already purchased. So if you want to buy something, I say do it! Good Luck!

I also am TTC for #1, but instead of buying things, I'm making lists of things I might need little by little, and then doing research on all those items. So in other words, I am learning the most I can about what type of crib is safest, what type of carseat might work best given my lifestyle and family plan, etc. That way, once you do become pregnant, you won't feel so overwhelmed. Yeah, a nine-month gestation period is a long time, but I know at least five new moms who said it went by in a flash, and they wish they had had longer to prepare! :)

Definitely. It could take months to TTC plus get past the 14 week 'safe' mark and 9 months is a long time to start stocking up on baby things. Plus you get so much at the baby shower!

I think you should wait. Your stress level is already high TTC. Do not add any stress to yourself. When the baby comes you will have plenty of time to spend that money so save it to then. You can always do registries and not let anyone know until the baby comes. If that makes you feel better.

I don't know that I would start buying them before getting pregnant but saving the money to buy them after you are is a great idea. As soon as we got pregnant each time we would buy things slowly, diapers, the furniture one thing at a time, clothes as I found them (according to season/age). That way by the time each was born we were set for quite some time.

Maybe just a few things, if you REALLY love them! For example, while shopping for my friends baby shower, I found this little outfit that says "Thank Heaven For Little Kids" and I loved it so much I had to have it, but don't go overboard. Who knows, maybe it will help you to be excited again about a future pregnancy, therefore relieving your stress for a while, making it easier to conceive. That's how I feel.

If you use coupons and you find diapers and or wipes on sale, I would stock up on that stuff.
You could also start setting aside some money every week in the "baby fund." So when you do get pregnant you have some money saved up.

yes. you do not want to be disappointed if it does not happen and you have all those baby things to remind you every time. It will raise your stress level, get your hopes up to high, and cause deep depression when it does not happen when you feel it should have. Wait until you have conceived and then start thinking about getting baby things. good luck

Yes, it could take a while to conceive and all the baby stuff laying around could stress you out.
