If the disk is scratched on the shinny side ( the side that goes down) You may be able to cheaply remedy this with wax or chap stick. you fist cover this side of the disk with a film then take a clean soft cloth or Toilet paper and wipe from the center out to get a nice shine. Then put the disk in the drive. If the top or label side is scratched it is likely the disk is going to be a loss. Your drive could be bad but if other disks work fine it is not the case.

Hi,
Once check out these cases,

I think already u had cleaned the CD,and might have tried all the tips.Like cleaning the CD ,trying in another drive,....
As known to me CD is made up of some 3 to 4 metal layers. On the top layer your data will be recorded as magnetic field. May be due to the long rest the magnetic field may get damaged or if the CD was placed in heat atmosphere the layers may damaged.

The field will be filled up in the very tiny dots on the front side of the CD,The top layer may covered by the dust ,ie it makes the drive difficult to read.spread any cleaner at the center and rub very gently to outside direction. It may clean the CD.
The written format may different,ie it was written before 4 years. If u are trying on the same system and in same format ignore this case.

sounds like either the disk is damaged or your CD drive doesn't work. Try the CD in another PC. If that doesn't work there, then the CD is damaged.

I think the cd might have been damaged .
Try it on another cd player .
If it doesn't work ..
Then that means the cd is corrupt ..

Is it scratched or has it been in the sun too long? You can try getting the data off with Copy Cat:
