Some girls feel like they are being treated unfairly when they want to play football for their school. They always get the suckie gyms or locker rooms, or even the equipment.

Good question...

First, one must read the rule book. If it does not mention ANYTHING about a female not being able to play, then a female can play.

Now, locker rooms or gyms. The condition to these are pre-exsisting. Playing football or not, the girls gym is already there. If it is in bad shape already, maybe complain to the principal about the conditions. Voice your opinion.

Equipment...you play with what you get or you get your own. Maybe when you talk to the football coach at the beginning of the season and state your dedication to the team. Let the coach know that you are there to stay. Maybe with your effort to show dedication, they will give you equipment that is good vs not so good, since you may quit anyways.

Either way, good luck and have fun......

Of course they should be allowed to, but here's the issue. There will always be more boys than girls playing football. So they might have 1-3 girls on a team that want their own locker room, so of course they'll get a smaller, older one. That's just part of the deal. It isn't to demean the girls in any way, but that's just something you know will come with it. As for gyms and equipment...that's stupid. Our entire team shared the same weightroom as the girls that didn't play football. Equipment was given out based on seniority, just like numbers. Yes, girls should be able to play football. So shut up and play.

Yes if they are students at the school then the teams should take all/any students. But keep in mind that its a two way street. Boys should be allowed to join volleyball teams or crew teams etc. You will have to be aware that the boys will challenge you in contact drills physically and mentally but its the coaches job to monitor/educate their teams that you are all a team and family. I hope if you want to play football that you at least have played athletics before. Football is a high repetition sport. Do not expect to be given too much special attention, but wanting to be part of the team is the goal..so talking to coaches about how to improve and practice hard is a welcome to many coaches who are always looking for more athletes. You will have to follow all team rules and practices. As far as the lack of new or proper equipment/facilities you and your parents need to confront the Athletic Director(s), school boards, superintendents, etc and make your points known..Many public schools will wait until they get grants and other funding from the state or feds, and that money is always spent on things other than athletic budgets. A law suit to get better equipment is always an attention grabber, but causes a lot of resources to be spent on lawyers instead of students. Good Luck

I say no, i was playing football three years straight and right before the season started senior year some girl decided to try out for cornerback and she took the second string spot and wanted to challenge me for the starting positonthe coach said no but she got the parents involved so i had to challenge her 1 on 1 in the pit and she came at me and hit me helmet 2 helmet and fell to the floor , she suffered from a comcussion and her parents blamed me for the concussion and I got suspended. I got a lawyer and fought the suspension and with the help of my teammates telling the truth that i didnt even leave the ground to hit her i got to play but only half the season. I was looked down upon by the scouts as the guy who tackled a girl and i didn't get any big school scholarships and i am now playing for SJSU

Girls should be allowed on the team just as the guys are. There is no football equivalent for girls at the high school level. Game participation, and travel squad status should have to be earned, just like the guys.

Once a girl joins, the coaching staff should seek help in ensuring fairness in this to avoid what in todays society seems to be the inevitable lawsuit.

As a matter of fact a high school by the name of Cy-Falls in Houston had a young female student complain about the same thing. You know what happened to her? She continued complaining after another girl took her idea and did something about it- the other girl tried out for the team and became the kicker for the high school 10th grade football team.

listen, I am a female, and I LOVE football, however, women would not be allowed to play with men. Sorry ladies!!! Yes we should have our own NFL league(WNFL) but to play on the same field with guys would be crazy or suicidal. Women can do some of the same things as men, maybe better at times, but.......think about being a running back, and you're going up against Urlacher or Ray Lewis....do you honestly think you could take a BIG HIT from someone like that? HECK NO!!! Again, we NEED our own league, but we do not need to be on the same field....

Sure, but they also have to be able to handle it. Their were 2 girls on our local high school team. They had to be able to proform as well as the giys, (they both did), take a hit, and be ok with the locker room. They were not givin their own locker room, they went as a team, dressed as team, and played as a team. Their famlies were told that no special treatment would be made, and it was not.

In my opinion a woman can play football all she wants just as soon as she can prove that she can hang with the boys, whether it be down the field or in the trenches. See most women that try to join the football team aren't doing it for the right reasons... they're not doing it because they naturally want to play but instead because they are trying to prove some point (which don't get me wrong I support that). The thing most women don't understand though is that unless you're largely obese and weigh in at like 350 lbs. there is NO WAY you're going to be able to go through tackling drills and things like that day in and day out without getting seriously injured at some point. Not only that but you will NEVER be a starter because most coaches don't want to take the chance of putting a girl in to start and having her get seriously injured. In my opinion though if a girl wants to be on the football team, so be it, but there should be NO special treatment. By that I mean no separate lockers (you get naked in front of the entire team), no going easy on you (we hit you as hard as we can), and well... I guess thats about it. Now before you go on about how I'm a sexist pig I want you to think about one thing... I'm actually married to the one girl who was brave enough to play on my high school football team. She was there because she just naturally had a love for the game and thats actually how we met, during practice one day I tackled her and I hit her HARD (she tucked her pony tail under her pads so I didn't know she was a girl) and while I was on top of her I looked down and was like "oh sh*t! I'm sorry" and helped her up and then she proceeded to start yelling at me for apologizing to her. She's just a skinny little thing and wanted to be treated like another teammate... not a girl. So yeah long story short it was love at first... tackle I guess you could say. She ended up leaving the team because I was one of only a handful of teammates who actually supported her and the coach didn't want her on the team so he treated her like sh*t. Would never let her play and purposely gave her bigger pads so she wouldn't be able to move. So yeah, that is my story... good luck to any women who want to play football, but remember it's not all fun and games and you're in for a long road ahead of you full of pain and challenges.

As a male, i would be very apprehensive about you playing football. #1 High School Guys aren't that mature. They are going to look to hurt you. Plain and Simple. Also you have to worry about the other team just trying to get a good hit on the "girl playing on the team". If you do play though, dont let them see you cry. If you get hit hard, get up as fast as you can and dont let them see that it hurt like hell.
