because they can be. there is no competition. if Mcdonalds pisses you off, you can go to wendy's. if sears pisses ya off, you can go to Target. If the DMV makes you mad, you are stuck. There is no reason for them to be nice if they don't want to be. very sad if you ask me.

Nobody WANTS to go to the DMV. When they FINALLY get to the counter (after waiting for an hour) they're very upset, and they take it out on the DMV employee, even though it's not their fault. I imagine after having so many people b*tch at you every day, eventually you develop a nasty attitude.

Hmm...good question. Most likely because 1) they can be 2) they hate their job 3) wouldn't you be bitchy if a whole bunch of people came in and asked you a million really dumb questions everyday...especially if someone like Paris Hilton came in and was said "ummm..i would like to umm hmm get my ummm driver's hmmm ummm license....yeah that's it.." I know at my job when people call and ask the dumbest question it ticks me off.
