Depends on what you call free. Energy-wise, nothing is free. You can only get what you pay for (1st law of thermo). Actually, you generally get less (2nd law of thermo).

Money-wise, if you wanted, you could hook up a generator to an exercise bike or a hamster wheel to get free electricity for something you'd be doing anyway or put solar cells or a windmill on the roof to harness the sunlight that would be shining anyway or wind that would be blowing anyway.

If you steal the equipment needed to convert other forms of energy into electricity then you can generate electricity for free (some of that equipment may require some fuel which you can also steal).

Though of course that has the problem of being illegal so I'd recommend you don't try it.

Though if you've already got some supplies you might be able to fabricate something for free without breaking the law like a small generator from an electric motor (easy considering that a motor when turned manually is a generator) or just take a PV cell out of a calculator you don't use any longer (assuming it actually is a PV cell and not just a look-alike that some battery powered calculators have to fool people into thinking they are solar powered).

away out into the country and eat a lot of wild food produce - plants/animals. then do some light exercise and or some deep thinking - both these processes should generate electrical impulses inside your body.

as to harnessing this energy!! then commence some vigorous exercise on a treadmill that has been hooked up to an elec generator

solar power, wind energy, hydroelectric power are all sources of energy that will not diminish for a very long time. They arent monetarily free, and there is no such thing as free energy. But, in the sense that they are inexhaustable they are free.

a larger version can be a dam with turbines. there isn't any such component as loose ability.
